  1. Thanks for your replies! I'm using vray sp5 After some tries, i increased the image resolution a lot, in this case, starts to use all the memory! What bothers me, is if i need to made test renders, are taking a lot of time, because doesnt use all the resources available, in some cases, the light cache and irradiance calculation doesn't differs to much from a image with twice the resolution. I read in the chaos group forum something about the bitmap pager, i will try this.
  2. I'm not an computer expert, in fact, my knowledge very limited, so, maybe someonecan gave some light about this When i render in 3ds max with vray 1.5, i open the task manager, and in the performance tab, i noticed y the memory info, the blue line never goes up, never pass form the middle, and is even lower than that!! my renders even simple escenes are taking ages to render. i had 8gb of ram, win 7 64 bits, and when i render, tha task manager shows there is 5gb available! I tried to modifying the dynamic memory limit, but without any sucess. I ask because all of this starts to happen since i format my computer weeks ago, before that i always check the task manager, and in renders i used to saw that blue line very high!!
  3. Nop, it seems that is not possible, for the inherit nature of the material between programs. I comment that situation in the "area" forums, and some autodesk personal, was advised for that, and will be treated the problem, but was long time ago, and hot fixes for revit, 3ds max and fbx was released, and no one fix the issue! so, i don´t hold my breath!!
  4. Hello,

i've read your post on cgarchitect,

    sorry for disturb,

Have you resolve the problem with revit material names?

    Thanks

  5. Hello to everyone someone can help or show a good tutorial about align a texture in vray fog let me explain it, i created a vray fog, and use a gizmo, a simple box of 2x2x2 mts, and i want to applied a fog density texture that fit exactly in that dimension, at least in a front face, but i can´t do it, the final fog density is to big, or to tiled, etc.
  6. Hi Pierre, thanks for your support, I can still send you the file?
  7. i also works in metric units, but in meters, but it seems that the internal unit system of revit is feets, and also seem that revit export to fbx in feets
  8. Thanks for your response Paul. I have to say, i should search better before create the thread, (look "similar threads" below) one of them them gave a very simple solution that works great for me, change the system units of max to "feet" (thats the base unit of revit) and now the gizmos of my imported revit model are corrected (so far, at least)
  9. Hello guys I had a frustrating problem, i don't know if is a bug, or I'm missing something. I use the file link manager to insert a fbx revit model into max, (the model was exported to fbx from revit) the problem that i have, is the gizmos. All the model parts has a correct scale, all has the same dimensions that has in revit, but when i applied some properties, let's say, an "uvw mapping" the dimensions of the gizmos are totally different, bigger, for example: i had a box of 20x20 cms, i applied the uvw mapping, assigned to the gizmo the same 20x20 cm, and the size is huge!!! a funny thing is, if i made all the same process, but to and object created in max (the same 20x20 box, but created in max) the gizmos match with the original dimensions. if someone can gave me some workaround or something i really appreciate. (for the record, the revit model was made with the metric system, in mts, and the units in max are configured in mts, and the system unit setup 1=1 inch)
  10. Yes, i Already upgrade both (3ds max hotfix and the fbx plugin) and the situation persists
  11. Hello To everyone Someone knows if is possible to keep revit material names using the file link manager and the fbx format? let me explain it. In revit 2011 i had a material with an specific name, for example “concrete column” and its render appearance is based in the autodesk library “Flat - Gray 1” when i transfer the file to 3ds max, using the file link manager, that material transfer with the name “Flat - Grey 1” and i would like to transfer that material with his original name “concrete column”, funny because the previous versions of revit or max, the materials transfer with they respective names. this is really annoying, because in our office, have several materials, but all are based in the same render appearance, so transfer like the were the same.
  12. for example. in revit i create a material with specific name "concrete column" and in the material properties, the render appearance is based in "concrete" . when i transfer the model to 3ds max (with fbx link manager) this material transfer with the name "concrete". This very annoying because, for example, in revit i had this "concrete column" but also i had another material named "concrete wall" and is also based in the "concrete" render appearance, in 3ds max, both materials appears with the same name: "concrete". In previous versions of revit, using the dwg linking methodm the materials transferred with his specific names in 3ds max "concrete column" "concret wall"
  13. Sorry, i forgot to mention that the link file is a dwg. i doesn´t like the new fbx file, because the materials doesn´t transfer with the name we use in the model, transfer with a generic name
  14. Hello to everyone I triying to link a model from revit 2011 to max 2011, using the file link manager, but i had a problem, when i open the model in max, the revit families, the create in place ones, and the create outside, almost all come without textures, and i didnt know why, i doesnt had this problem with previous releases os revit. someone can help me with this problem?
  15. hi to everyone I had a problem with the materials names using the FBX format and the file link manager, transferring files from revit 2011 to max 2011 In the revit model i use specific materials with specific names (Based on the default render appareance of revit, because i cant create custom) But when i transfer the model to max, the materials lose that names, and use the name of the "default render apareance" This is very annoying, because for example, in revit we had several types of concrete, but all are based in the "concrete" render appareance, but when we transfer the file to max, in the model appear vairous materials with the same name "concrete" someone know any workflow to deal with this?
