  1. wow! lovely images.... The colours are what do it for me. Beautiful.
  2. hello - i like the idea of using half height walls. Maybe you should show the doors though, so we can see where they open. Also, you show the windows in one place on the upper floor, but not in the other openings. This make the image seem unfinished. On the ground floor, the corridor seems to lead to a dead end, is that the stairs? If so maybe change the viewpoint to make it more clear. About the colours, you show realistic colours for some things, like the floors for example, but not for other things like the sheets on the beds and the wardrobes. Hope this helps...
  3. Up till now I'd only associated CGtextures with bricks, stone, wood etc but now I've downloaded some nice shopfronts :-) So I made an abstract street and also one with the shopfront photos and materials. I should add some signs over the shops, but I think they are OK for a first try, and I'll test them out in the next project I do. Thanks to all for your input. 4. The google maps idea is great! Street View, even better. I will have it in my ideas box for later use. For now I want to try and make a non-specific facade that I can use in any project. Yesterday I went out and photographed a row of shops just up the road from me (I was stopped by the police and questioned because one of the buildings I happened to photograph was a bank... !) I like this idea of the overexposed and bloomed photo as well, so I tried mapping the photos I've taken onto some simple geometry. However there were many cars in the photo so it didn't really work too well. So now I'm trying a kind of vague edge texture on the geometry to give just an impression of shop facades...
  5. i didn't mention that the site of the shop is often in a different city to where I work, so a photo is not possible then...
  6. hello all, I render shop interiors at work, and always need something to cover the area visible from the shop window to the horizon line, for views from various positions in the (proposed) shop. There is hardly ever photos of the site that match the perspectives, and so I usually just do nothing, as in the example. I was wondering how other people deal with this, other than using plants outside the window to cover the view, or implying that the view is from high up and only showing an abstract horizon? 7. I got an 18, with an eizo flexscan s2411 monitor - could do better as they used to tell me at school! interesting test
  8. - the noise you mention is because it's low res, and also the background was low res... I actually took the seats I had out of the way because I didn't want any trouble with them looking grey in the low light... But having said that I could maybe put them back with some low level lights on them and like you say improve the colour balance thanks!
  9. hello I tinkered with the light inside to try for a warm feeling, but I couldn't get it to look right, so I left it as this more neutral colour... but I get your point that it takes away focus from the pool. I'll have another go when I find some free time, to see if I can improve it.
  10. phew it looks like I've got my work cut out... that big white thing is supposed to be a big milky white plexiglass sheet with lots of flourescent lighting behind it - definately the main light source... I added a big uplight pointing towards the ceiling to avoid getting GI blotches on the ceiling but I can see now that was a bad move. I'll revisit the lighting again, and avoid the tiling texture on the floor. I thought the stone columns were ok, or do they look tiled as well?
  11. went swimming this morning in the council's open air pool not hot enough for a suntan mind, but still lavlee
  12. It never ocurred to me that I could just move the chairs to one side This is what I adjusted in photoshop: Added levels and shadow/highlight adjustments Added an ao pass to increase the shadows slightly Desaturated everything a little Tweaked the colour of the ceiling and the mauve glass and the water Added an extra water reflection pass Added glow to the spotlights and the membrane Darkened the ceiling membrane Added a slight vignette Added fake caustics to the water, and a colour filter What do you think I can work on for the materials?
  13. ...silence... I'll take that as meaning "just move on already"
