  1. great work, its not often to see this quality. How did you light this scene?
  2. The settings is good enough. These artifacts usually caused due lack of light. experiment this by adjusting the sun through the windows and render from the same angel. increase the iso of your camera, the render is very dark.
  3. I never did it myself. but think its done with "after effects", try to google AE flare effect or bloom.. check if this is what you want.
  4. Hi Phill, Its hard to guess why it doesn't work for you. My suggestion is: 1. open a fresh scene with a HDRI in the environment map. (HDRI because it will be easier to see various reflections when the environment color is not solid) 2. place a teapot with chromatic material, place a checkers map in the reflection map. (you can press the "show standard map in viewport" button to see which part supposed to reflect and which are not.) 3. now you should understand how the reflection map is working... 4. open your scene and pick a chrome material with checkers map on the book, make sure nothing is wrong in your scene and the vray frame buffer renders the spec map... 5. if its all good you must work on your original book material...
  5. Thanks AJLynn, You say its a matter of budget only?
  6. Hi guys and thanks for helping. I'm sure few of you are working or used to work for a professional Arcvis company. I will appreciate if you can advise me on this subject... Assuming that I'm expecting 4-5 renders a day. Should I build a dedicated server for this task? If so, can you please specify what kind of hardware is recommended for it, (dual CPU motherboard with the best i7 processors?, is there anything better?) What is the recommended amount of RAM? Thank you again
  7. Its a successful photo montage, sometimes its tricky to match the lights and colors. Regarding the composition, I think you could have place the camera in a more interesting position. The building covers about 10% of the image.
  8. This is just flawless. I really like your compositions, it seems like everything you touch turns into gold. You found the perfect balance between soft ambient shadows and sunlight. Do you mind explaining how did you light this scene? Keep it up, you inspire me.
  9. 1. You can bump the subdivs of the vray materials reflection to improve quality. 2. Try to render with IR and LC, it handles to noise better. also, bump up the anti aliasing (3min - 6max) and in the vray DMC sampler reduce the noise threshold to 0.005- 0.003 3. Lack of lights can cause noise, it might be the case in your scene.
  10. Hi guys and thank you for helping. The squares that render the image in Vray, do they represent the cores or the threads of the processor? If I buy an I7 6 cores with 12 threads. will I have 6 or 12 squares?
  11. thanks guys, I didn't notice I've had the LC on primary...
  12. Hey guys thanks for helping. I used LC and brute force. LC: 3000 subdivs 15 interp.samples BF: 30 subdivis check the attached file, you cant miss the problem. Why does it happen and how do I get rid of it. Thanks
  13. Studio/Institution: none Genre: Other Software: 3ds max + vray Description: Hey guys thanks for helping. I used LC and brute force. LC: 3000 subdivs 15 interp.samples BF: 30 subdivis check the attached file, you cant miss the problem. Why does it happen and how do I get rid of it. Thanks
  14. Hi and thanks for helping. I got an DWG file imported from Solidworks to Max. The object is faceted and I can't sort how to smooth it. When I imported it I checked the unify normals and auto smooth. I tried applying smooth modifier...turbo smooth just added polygons but it remained faceted. Any ideas?
