1. How do you vector export? Is this through Vray, Mental Ray or standard Scanline? is there a tutorial somewhere? Help most appreciated
2. Have you guys seen this? Not that expensive considering... 32 threads of render goodness - maaaaaad!!! Asus Dual Xeon workstation motherboard with a pair of two E5-2660's two E5-2687's, 64GB of Vengeance memory and a pair of H100's just for good measure! What do you think?
3. Hey, Need to find Hvac and services drawings / cad for a building study for uni. Does anyone know any source website which has any drawings for a international building? Any help appreciated.
4. Thanks for the response guys. Just to give you a heads up - this is my studio model: So trying to get the skin to glow - the inside is populated with a few levels etc might be nice to see a vague shadow of those, but more importnatly is that awesome night look.
5. Hi Peeps, I've made this organic form for my architecture studio assigment - its a semi transparent plastic/vinyl skin. I'd like to do a night render of the facade - with it lit up. Whats the best process.. should I fill with lights inside or use glowing material.. Cheers for your thoughts
6. Thanks Peter, that helps me and at least I'm alomost there. Yeah centering is proving tricky. Most appreciated though
7. Hey guys, [edit: noob question] I'm trying to make a series of simple geospheres (1 segment, icosa, no smoothing, base pivot) I'm having a problem aligning the flat surfaces to each other. As you can see here I've tried changing the pivot (the pivot shown here was rotated manually - which is not what I'd like) and I'm having no luck with using the align tool to perfectly centre on a segment surface. Just what a series of geometric domes to align flat on their surfaces. Am I missing something blatently obvious.. or could you give some advise. Cheers
8. Hey Peeps, Never had a problem with Max 2009. But in Max 2010, every time I make a basic shape / primitive it's shown in the same color. So if I make a cylinder then a plane then a box - they're all the same color. Am I missing something obvious here? All I want is the random color assignment to new objects. Cheers
9. Thanks Frank, So can we say quite confidently that there are indeed no issues with rendering on a farm with Mixed CPU's? Just want to see if anyone else knows of any issues, as it's a big outlay if there is a problem that could appear down the track. Cheers
10. I'm too late but that would have been my first suggestion. I've had 2 motherboards in the past make that hiss / squeal like sound. When on load and when scrolling through webpages - quite annoying really.
11. Hi Everyone, This is actually my first post, I tried searching but nadda. I'm going to purchase a render box, and naturally want to go for an Intel q6600 over an AMD phenom because of performance, price and overclocking abilities. So, is it crucial to only stick with the one brand when setting up a small render farm as the workstation I currently use is an AMDx2. I understand that it's not wise to mix operating systems, becaus of the flickering issues caused by calculation differences between x64 and x86 windows. But if I was running the Intel Q6600 render box could my Dual Core AMD workstation jump in and share the network render load? Mike
