  1. Another thing I notice with this list is that here it's impossible to see which one has been updated since last time you visited. And it's a list of post extracts instead of list titles.
  2. Yea, that was a very burried and unintuitive location for the feature. Even the URL is odd. As oppose to phpBB where you have /search.php?search_id=egosearch As for measureing a popular request - if people don't know the concept of the feature they cannot request it. Over at SketchUcation it's widely used and the regulars rely on it. Is there a plugin system for this forum framework? Wondering if it then might already be an addon for that feature...
  3. I've used a few forums which uses phpBB and one feature there which I found very useful was "View your posts" which lists the posts you've been active in. In large forums like this it makes folloing your conversations so much easier. I haven't found similar feature on this forum - did I miss it?
  4. I see. Thanks for those tips. But there is no way of baking a transformation into the geometry itself? Like in SketchUp when you right click a scaled instance and choose "Scale Definition"?
  5. I was exporting some XFrog trees into mrProxy. The original model was scale up to match real size after importing. But I find the proxies comes in with the size of the original geometry before it was scaled. When I select the original geometry and activate the Scale tool it does say 519 So, how would I "apply" or bake the transformation so it recognized the scaled geometry as the correct and default size? (3DS Max 2013 Design)
  6. Oh - using the Slate editor I just so happened to see that when I right clicked a material there was an Material ID menu!
  7. I'd be surprised if anyone discriminated against it - V-Ray is V-Ray. I've been using VfSU at my office and I often use tutorials made with Max or Maya etc. The theory is the same regardless, it's just the UI being a bit different. Granted the current VfSU doesn't have all the features of Max V-Ray, but after ChaosGroup bought ASGVis they're working on changing that.
  8. You could try my QuadFace Tools: https://bitbucket.org/thomthom/quadface-tools/overview The plugin is a toolset to deal with quad-based geoemtry in SketchUp (even non-planar). As pure UV mapping plugins both Fredo and Whaat has very nice plugins for this: ThruPaint http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=44552 ( free ) SketchUV http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=44501 ( $15 ) If you are not familiar with installing plugins for SketchUp you can check out this tutorial: http://www.thomthom.net/thoughts/2012/01/installing-plugins-for-google-sketchup/
  9. I'll be reintroduced in the next version. Devin posted over at SCF a video demoing it. As for dealing with 1.49.01 without it - I've gotten used to it by now. I usually get an idea of how long it is when it's doing the lightcache and initial IR passes.
  10. Where did you find it? I'm using 3dsmax 2013 - can't find that property in the material.
  11. I'm a V-Ray user - I've often used the GI AO for quick AO effect when I do not need to fine tune in post. Looking for similar effect in Mental Ray I came across this thread. Trying to process all the info, but do I understand it correctly that there is no similar function in MR?
  12. Bump maps and displacement maps are grayscale images where white is the high points and black is the low points. Often a quick an dirty map can be created by desaturating the original texture and increasing the contract to get a clear definition of the high and low points. I'm not quire sure what you mean by this. You're comparing an application with a fileformat. You can use any image apllication to create the bump maps. And the file format can be any format the V-Ray for SketchUp supports. I prefer not to use JPEGs due to the loss of qulity as a result of the JPEG compression. I use mainly use PNG as it compresses the iamges without any loss of quality. Concealed? A SketchUp material is not an image format. SketchUp materials uses JPEG as well as BMP, PNG, GIF and TIFF as textures. And then it includes some mapping information. You can right click on a material in the material editor and choose "Export texture image"
