  4. Cheers for the advice but I need to be able to animate the scene... Rubbish. Something tells me this isn’t going to be easy Thanks for your suggestion tho.
  5. Texture Mapping help!> Hi folks. I’m trying to create the edge of a lake for on of my models, I have created a blend material to give the impression of the grass fading to the lakes edge. Please see image. It maps fine to a plane or a box but I was wondering how I might get it to map to a random shaped mesh such as the one that is also in the image, Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Many thanks Mat.
  6. Hi there. Cheers for the suggestions. I am using vertex and still the problem persists, I’ve brought the file into work and it appears to be fine on my works machine. I’m going to try and model what I can here and then take it home without the DWG in the file and see if I can work on it then. Oddly all my other MaX files seam to be fine on my home computer! Some of which are far bigger. And more suggestions are very welcome. Cheers Matt.
  7. cheers bud, ill up load it if i can. two secs matt
  8. Hi there folks. GRRRR… Your help on this would be hugely appreciated. I’m worried sick trying to get a pease of unvericy work done in time for my final year and I’m coming up against loads of thecnical problems with I could really do with out. The biggest of which is as follows. I have a site plan striped right to the bear bones in CAD. The file amounts to only about 137kb. I import it into 3d max no problem. I start to work on it and again no problem .. But then after about five minutes and half a dozen splines having been traced over it it slows to a crawl. I check the task bar and its not responding. The memory usage is fluctuating for way down low to up in the million ..? I have a brand new dell dual cor with 2 gig and a 3 gig switch flipped. The Max file its self is only about 1 Mb . I have other files that I’m working on that are 20 / 25 mb and are fine. If anyone has any idea what I might be doing wrong then please give me a shout . I’m going to end up with no hair left at this rate. Many thanks Matt Im using max 8 , by the way. Cheers
  9. Hi folks, Thanks for the feedback, its always really good to get your work up on here for people to comment on. I find that after looking at an image for so long you being to be unable to se the flaws in it. The brick texture is a bit of a problem, it’s a redrow specified brick type and all the maps we have here tile if you look at them on large areas, if im honest I wanted to crop the image tighter on that right hand elevation for that very reason but the clients wanted to show the full extent of the building. Strat , I initially found the change over to MAX hugely stressful and at first it was sooo confusing. I had been very reluctant to change but I was becoming increasing aware that jobs I was looking at required me to know Max. fortunately the company I have recently moved to saw my potential in my C4D work and said that they would train me up in max in no time. They was right although its been a very steep learning curve and id have never been able to achive what I have learning it on my own. Going back to c4d now is very difficult , nothing seams to be in the right place any more. And as for thos cars , they a 3d cars from Sugar 3d. http://www.sugar3d.com/ Many thanks Matt.
  10. HI everyone. Thank you very much for the advice. It has been a grate help in clarifying the system a little more in my mind. Everything is rather up in the air presently. I will take a note of you various screen names and in the future if I need to ask a question I will be in touch. Thank you ever so much for you time, Matt.
  11. Hi folks. This is kinda more of a question to the American 3d visualizers. I’m presently facing a bit of a dilemma. I have a wonderful job working for one of the Uk’s top architectural l visualisation firms. Iv got nearly four years experience working in the industry. All is hunky-dory you might think, but Just recently My girlfriend has been offered a once in a life time chance to live and work in the US. Columbus Ohio to be specific. I would dearly love to go with her, I am left wondering just how possible you might imagine it would be for me to find a job over there. Iv contacted a hand full of architects but have as yet to hear anything. I know the visa obstacle is my main hurdle and for that I need to sores my self a job. I am just wondering just how likely it is that a US based firm would employ me? Any advice or suggestion on this would be hugely appreciated. Many thanks Matt.
  12. Sketch and toon for 3D max? Please could any one enlighten me as to weather or not there is a add on or plug in for 3D Max that dose the same thing or similar as the sketch and toon addon for cinema 4d? Cheers Matt.
  13. Cheers for the comments. I also feel as tho it’s a bit dark. I rather rushed it off last night and left it to render over night. I often find it hard to get a happy medium with light. Its seams either to bright or not bright enough. but that is my reason for playing about with seans like this. Much of the model was bits taken form other jobs iv worked on so the image came together very quickly. The rug was quite easy. It is quite a lot of polys tho. It just involves a plane split up into about 80 by 60 then crumple it up a bit , and then apply an matrix extrud. the settings for which im not a hundred percent as it was a wile ago i actually modelled that rug. Iv just had go at doing it again and cant quite get the effect. But given a bit of trile and error im sure you will suss it out. And yep the depth of field was a bit of an after thought in Photoshop. It could be better. Let me know how you get on with the rug. Il poss have another go at a lighter render if I get the time. Matt
