  1. I have never used Rebus before but have with Garagefarm. They are great and fast turnaround at a fraction of the fee.
  2. successful 3d business no, but a birth of one yes. My point is there is very easy to start in 3D. I am not talking about a successful 3d studio, It is the type of businees that offer up 100 images. There not going to compete for larger projects but will take buisness from small 1 man shops like me. My quailty has to go up to over come that but the market will only allow so much.
  3. Hi guys I found your thread today and found it of interest, I have been on the loosing side of very low unthinkable fees in the last few months. My take on it is piracy of software. I know some here stand by it does not matter. My thought it is just to easy to get into the 3D business. You do not even have to leave your house. Just log onto the internet grab your software and you are in the business in a few hours. There is little of no effort. If software could not be pirated it would cut down on the competition and make upstarts think hard and long do I want to spend on a business with no guarantees of return. I am sure people are downloading right now some will try 3D and stay with it some will move on to something else. All I ask is a even playing field. Never going to happen I am afraid. Not alot of other industry that makes it so easy to get into.

  5. Thanks for all the comments. I agree about the water issue. I guess I may have been lazy to detail. I modeled the landscape to conform to the house then I just cut in the water. I should of pulled the water down a little lower to give that slope that is not there now.
  6. I must admit I do not really frequent this forum to much. This topic seemed very interesting to me. My take of it is if anyone even cares, is or was nervousness like others here of the future. Lets face it is like a light switch went off over the last year. Something has changed just can not put a finger on it. Allot of you talk about low sub contract work from other " 3rd world countries" I for one have needed help now and again and find contract help but found in Europe it is more expensive then USA based freelance. Maybe you all have better contacts. I have family in Russia and I think most Americans think the world is mostly 3rd world. If they would just travel they would see other wise. Maybe even see things better are outside. Health care mentioned here big issue with me. It is like if your house was on fire they would ask do you have insurance? ability to pay they bill? then decide to come put out fire. Heath care is a right just like Police or Fireman. Nixon put this backward policy in to place but I guess I am getting off topic. Point is easy to blame outside contactors, for are down cycle. But the world playing field is leveling. All USA here do yourself a favor start marketing outside the USA. Just like stock savvy’s investing in global markets don't put all your eggs just in the local economy. My 2 cents
  7. Thanks for the comments. That puddle on the left is man made and there are a series of them wraping around the whole house with small channels connecting them. I think there will be a pump moving the water. I guess the owner must like running water.
  8. This is the 2nd view of 3 for this home just completed. Comments welcome
  9. I have sub contracted modeling in the past. Most contractors outside the USA want higher fees now. The fact is now in the USA the dollar has fallen so much, about 20% maybe more now just the exchange rate gives the advantage to USA based companies. Not even discounting you already make yourself more completive to work outside the USA. It is about time maybe to start marketing to outside markets. Seems to be where the money is right now. I guess turn a negative of a soft market here to a positive to outside the USA. Anyone else starting to think this way?
  10. Thanks for all the comments everyone. I went back and fixed the 2 trees you pointed out. Thanks again.
  11. Residential project to pre sell home. Rendered in Lightwave with Fprime rendering engine.
  12. Thanks for the comments everyone. I took it on myself to do the winter image and just wanted to see some reaction of peoples preference. I feel I need to do more work to it and may be a waste of time. Mainly add volume around drive way and roof of snow buildup. And you are right to do something with the 2 small trees in the middle. Thanks
  13. Some work in progress trying to figure out to go with the winter or spring image. I have not taken the winter image as far yet. Model and render in Lightwave. C&C welcome
  14. Thanks for the reply guys. Yes I think I will lighten shadows a bit. Mark i see you are based in Telluride. Must be nice to work out of there. I got to do a project there about 6 years ago and really liked the area alot.
  15. The home has been changed so most of the model design is having to be redone. C and C welcome as a start next round on the model.
