1. Any Idea why Autodesk Composite 2013 is telling me that I have 7 days left on my License? I thought that Composite came with 3dsMax. I've had it installed for almost 3 years!
2. I am running a 380 frame interior animation. Everything was going well until about frame 200. Now the job seems to get stuck between frames. Essentially backburner just stops processing the job. I've restarted it several times but backburner only processes 5 or 6 frames and it goes right back into this "Paused" mode between frames. The error I'm seeing says 3dsmax adapter : MENTAL RAY LOG: PHEN 1.0 534 MB warn 052009:running out of stack space, breaking shader call recursion.. Has anyone else experienced this?
3. This almost looks like an isometric. What was your camera lens setting?
4. Thanks Thorsten. This worked for me.
5. I applied the photoshop actions created by Daniel Box to mimic Instagram filters to one of my renderings. Check out the results here.
6. "Matchmover is available to all subscription customers for 3ds Max 2010 and 3ds Max 2011. It's one of the great values added when being on subscription for 3ds Max." Good thing I have a subscription for 3dsMax 2011 Design! So frustrating...
7. Wait. Did I miss the part where a plugin was suggested? So far I've found this: http://www.immervision.com/en/multimedia/multimedia_products/Tools/multimedia_products_tools_0.php and this: http://www.easypano.com/panorama2flash.html Obviously the best solution creates a file that can be embedded in a web-site. Are there any free applications that can handle this?
8. For use with Mental Ray Arch & Design materials. Provides one central location to edit Ambient Occlusion paramenters - Max Distance and Samples. I added a Dialog Menu and "Disable AO" button to an existing script. http://www.renderededge.com/2011/08/universal-ao-maxscript.html
9. Travis, Have you been using importons/irradiance particles in Max recently? Wondering if you've developed a practical workflow. I came across this the other day http://forums.cgarchitect.com/65490-render-optimizer-v1-ready-download.html It seems to make the whole process slightly more user friendly. I still feel like I'm blindly tweaking parameters though. I'm clearly not ready to throw in the FG/GI towel. Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom
10. Why did Autodesk do this? Do I need to purchase it seperately.
11. Adam, Did you ever have any luck with this? I can't believe it's 2011 and there is still not a simple application that would allow one to bake materials and lighting, create a stand-alone file (.exe), and allow the user/client to simply orbit around the design. Let me know if you've any success with Baked Materials Autodesk Design Review. Thanks, Tom
12. There are better tools for modeling a drape in Max itself. Why do you not want to model it in MAx?
13. OK I got it. Use the "border" sub-object of your Editable Poly. Right click on it and choose "Create Shape" Ah-ha. Edit:
14. I'm still missing something! I create my shapemerge and the extract function re-flattens the spline. So I convert to an Editable Poly and the option to extract disappears. Obvioiusly the sweep modifier is not working because it only functions with shapes or splines. What is the critical step that I am missing?
15. Dave Buckley, I used shapemerge then extracted the spline. The spline just flattened back out. Lost all info on the Z axis.
