  1. Export / link revit models into max. I use mental ray. You can use mental ray proxies for the foliage. Works great.
  2. Have you tried this workflow ? I could not agree less with what you are saying. If you need to make changes make changes to the revit model. I have no problems linking very large complex Revit models into Max. A model as simple as the one shown is not problem at all.
  3. I have never understood why so many people put the building in shade. I like to keep the sun on the left corner if possible. I know in this case you are matching a photo. I would take a new photo at a different time of day when the sun is hitting the front of the building. The sun on your background trees doesnt seem to match the sun in the photo. That brown color on the buildings seems to be a bit too green. Would be nice to see some depth into the buildings
  4. I model in revit and link to max all the time very successfully. I really cant see doing it any other way. The revit model changes with it the cd set changes and the max rendering changes. Kind of a perfect workflow if you as me. I mass model in revit also. I only model trees and furniture in max. I dont concern myself too much with materials in revit. All my material assignments and mapping are done in max. I only apply materials enough in revit to make the model look good in revit. I make it look great in max.
  5. If the dark spot is your only problem fix it in photoshop. You can also adjust the levels there for a better image.
  6. Try putting a grey material in the material override slot and do a render. That will let you know if it is a material problem or lighting / model problem.
  7. Your suggestion to check out another fourm is a good suggestion. To suggest that people in this forum do not undersatnd the program is ridiculous. There was no specific error message. There was only an error image. The answers are not cryptic they are educated guess on what might be the problem. We cannot possibly know all the settings in this scene that might cause the problem based on a single image. This is one of the best forums for gaining knowledge in these programs.
  8. Try rebuilding the wall and ceiling. It might have something to do with the way the geometry is modeled and joined.
  9. Did you ever figure this out? looks like you have 2 suns and the shadows overlap.
  10. I am trying to use your advice. I am a bit confused. It seems to be working but the image in the mirror has become very blurred. How do I sharpen the mirror reflection. I am using 3dS Max 2011
  11. Any idea why I am getting blotches on the wall in my mirror reflections? They are ok when not reflected.
  12. I went to art school, I think I will use my license . I do understand his comments and why they would make it more realistic. And I greatly appreciate his input. I just choose to go artsy and over the top. I may add some sun glare on the windows as he suggested.
  13. I took some of your advice some. Some advice I ignored in favor of artistic license The adding darkness to the base really helped thanks. Anyone else have opinions? I would like to hear from everyone.
  14. You need to hit the people with some photoshop to give them sun high lights. Use the dodge tool to lighten them up on their right sides. Maybe make the whole image a bit lighter? I think the angle of the sun helps a lot. But thats just my personal preference. I think overall its looking pretty good.
  15. I was missreading the lighting. Try putting the sun over the right side of the camera pointing away from the camera into the room from the side.
