  1. Hi Adam, If you're looking for C4D work, feel free to follow us at @ChicagoC4D. We (and some of the people we follow) post jobs periodically. Jack
  2. Another excellent resource for information on monitors is TFT Central. They have some of the most comprehensive and consistent reviews I've seen anywhere.
  3. The last Power Mac was sold 5 years ago, before the transition to Intel chips. An average laptop today will give you better rendering performance.
  4. Just to keep things in perspective, I believe IMAX uses a 4k projector (i.e. 4,000 pixels wide). And the average IMAX screen is about 70ft. wide. That works out to less than 5 ppi. If it's good enough for Avatar, I'd say it's good enough for any arch. viz. rendering.
  5. I'll second Brodie's suggestion for the Dutch Skies HDRI collection. Just bought a few of the skies for a recent project and they made a huge difference. Very high res and a wide range of scenes. Jack
  6. Thanks for the tip Pabulo! It came at just the right time. I was just working with Vray fur for the first time, and I was about to give up when I saw your post. Render times are now super fast. Jack
  7. Glad to hear you were able to work something out Richard. Copyrighting your work is a great idea. As I understand it, if someone uses your copyrighted work without permission, you are entitled to several times the original fee. Don't quote me on this—an attorney would know for sure—but I do know of photographers that have been able to take advantage of this. Jack
  8. As others have said, photographers have very well established standards for selling rights to their images. It's apparently complex enough that you can use this program to calculate fees based on very specific scenarios. When I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago, a photographer friend of mine used this software to give me a range of standard prices. Jack

  12. Jack, just found your post about the random materials script. Darter made it with Xpresso and it works very well. The link is in post #3 here: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=47&t=597680. For me it was a bit tricky to set up. If you have any difficulty I can send you my set up notes.

  13. This sounds like a very useful script Leonard. Is it provided by a third party, or is it something you wrote yourself? If so, would you be willing to share it? Thanks, Jack
  14. I guess a Hummer would be appropriate if you want a vintage look.
