  1. I bought a new laptop and installed sketchup pro 8 without any issues and its working fine. I downloaded a trial version of vray for sketchup as im keen to learnt the program. Double clicking on the installer opens up an installer window but its blank! ive left the computer alone for 30 minutes with the installer window open but nothing appears within it!! i don't know if its because of windows 8, the installer? the download trial or what? any advice welcome. If you can respond in simple terms to help this simple man i'd be more than grateful. Thanks in advance
  2. I've imported a sketchup model into maxwell studio where im applying textures, material and emitters before renering with Maxwell render. as part of the image i did some 3d text in sketchup but this appears to be backwards and shifted down a little bit on the rest of the model. i need to find a way to rotate and move the 3d text back into position, is this possible? also the XYZ axis where you can move selected objects is now missing from the viewport. how can i get it back? ive only been using maxwell for a week or so so please reply as if replying to a trained chimp! thanks in advance
  3. thanks odouble, im using this method to import - it works! typing this into google - the second hit tells you how. "sketchup to 3ds max" dont understand much of what you say im afraid! too many technical terms!
  4. hi im a newbie here so be kind having difficulties importing my sketchup model to work on in 3ds max. ive got google sketchup 7 (not pro) and 3ds max 9. basically i can successfully import the model by saving as a .kmz file, renaming it .zip, opening it in winrar and saving as a .dae file. when i import my model into max again its there but it doesnt read some of the faces from sketchup (most are black). this problem is probably becuase of sketchup but im not that great at either program to understand what the problem is.... any solutions very welcome! ive got a deadline fast approaching! thanks in advance pancaking...
