  1. Guys I changed the curtains and added sheers. Of the problems I'm noticing is the light artifacts along the ceiling. The wood material looks realistic when the camera is set facing the light direction. When the camera is having the light coming from behind the wood material looks grainy. Is it a problem of glossiness and reflection? Would appreciate any help. Thanks
  2. This week I started working on the main bedroom. Works are still in progress but I'm fine tuning the last things before final render and post processing.
  3. My only concern is the quality issue of Gigabyte. I'm a bit afraid from investing money into a not such High brand such as dell. Dell Processor is a Core i7-4510U and the Gigabye has a i7-4710MQ Quad Core.
  4. Well when comparing the Dell to the Gigabyte, the later has more cores/threads. Reviews online show that the Gigabyte processor is much better although it needs more power.
  5. Thanks for your reply Dean. The specs of the Gigabyte laptop are much better than the Dell. I am a bit concerned because the laptop is new on the market and haven't found detailed reviews. I would like to know regarding any heating issues. Mauro
  6. As my budget is limited to not more than €900 I was looking at these laptop specs too: Asus X552CL-SX050H ------------------------- 15.6" LED-backlit Screen Intel Core i7 4500U 1.80GHz nVidia Geforce GT820 2GB dedicated graphics 8GB DDR3 RAM 500GB Hard Disk Drive DVD+/-RW Dual-layer optical drive Genuine Windows 8 Standard 64-bit ASUS N56VB-S4041H ------------------------ Asus N56VB-S4041H-12GB Laptop Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM Quad Core (2.4 GHz, Intel Ivy Bridge Architecture, 6 MB L3 cache, Features Intel Turbo Boost up to 3.4GHz) Display: 15.6" (ASUS, 1920x1080 Full HD Resolution) Memory: 12GB (DDR3 1600MHZ) Hard Disk Drive: 750GB Graphics: Dedicated (NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M with 2GB Dedicated Memory) Operating system: Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit I was opting for a laptop as I need to be mobile as much as I can.
  7. I am completely lost. Currently I have an old Dual Core 4GB Ram and my renderings 1600x1200 Vray max settings take roughly 5hrs to render. I am not investing a lot of money. I need a mid range good laptop or pc to be able to model comfortably and render a couple of images per project. If need be I will opt for render farms for big projects. If work will start coming in than I will consider investing a good sum of money in a desktop pc. My question is what sepcs to go for and if a laptop will do the work. I will not render on in 24/7.
  8. Studio/Institution: Private WOrk Genre: Residential Interior Software: Sketchup, Vray 1.6 Beta, CS5 Description: Hello Everyone, I must say I am very impressed with the quality of work and help found in these forums. I have been away from CGI's for quite a while and I'm trying to get back to business. I am working on a small 2 bedroom apartment to try new techniques and improve my level of CGI's. I would love to get some feedback. One thin I am struggling, is the extreme long time it takes for light cache to built up when having transparency in curtain fabrics. Any idea? Thanks!
  9. Hello Everyone, I have been reading a lot of posts lately regarding hardware configuration and laptops. I personally do not understand a lot but from what I read I was opting for the following laptop http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-15-7537/pd?oc=cn75317&model_id=inspiron-15-7537 Any suggestions for a limited budget? Thanks
  10. I finished my 1st rendering test......same settings as above but 800x600 pixels...The issue is still the rendering time. Comments please....In the mean time I will continue adding objects and trying the materials. I also attached a copuple of renderings I had done for the same project with Radiosity and the 3 rendering with Vray.
  11. Hi ppl, I just started to experiment for the 1st time with Radiosity overwrite materials. I'm also attaching the materials with UWW mapping using polygons. I am getting strange outcomes from this update rendering. The material on the front facade is Graffiato cladding which is a bit textured. The only materials attached are the yellow cladding and the white cladding on the curved windows. When you have a horizontal face to be mapped, I am using UVW Mapping (face). Any help re mapping?
  12. Hi James, Thanks for your reply. I would also like some comments re renderings since it's the 1st time i rendered with Radiosity
  13. Hi all, I just starting this project using radiosity for the 1st time. Some thing I noted is that materials really effect all the shadows and reflections. Any help regarding materials and their propoerties for radiosity? Can radiosity be used for large renderings? I posted these two small renderings using white colours for testing radiosity and light.
  14. Wondeful renderings! What kind of light did you use? Radiosity or sky dome effect? Can you post your settings? I'm still new 3d rendering and can get one right with radiosity.
