  1. stellar as always! small critiques would be add some specular hit to the cabinets. they seem a bit washed out and flat, as does the oven door (which strikes me as not modeled at all. may be wrong:) ). and overall shadow contrast could be brought out a bit more. continued success!
  2. Fantastic work! I love the little bit of anticipation the slight back-up at the beginning gives to the viewer. It definetly re-inforces and accentuates the stunning texturing work that follows. Only crit would be that slight hesitation moment upon entering the full 3d scene. Care to share any links on the camera technique for reading and study? Much appreciated.
  3. thx for the kind words nooxy, as for the blinds, i would be inclined to agree. i tweaked some of the meshes of the furniture provided to me so they would be more lightwave friendly, but left the curtains alone. they definetly would have benefited from some sort of sub-d modeling. sanchuez, that is one fantastic sofa material in that image, congrats!
  4. In response to this challenge: http://www.3dallusions.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1052 I created this image. Tools were Lightwave (FPrime) and PS. C&C appreciated, thx for taking a look
  5. I did this from memory, but I have seen this type of set-up before. Not certain if it's typical though. You're right about my modeling of it, as we have a serious problem with drywall here:D . Details'll kill you every time. I suspect the buckling you described is a jpg compression issue, as the final large render was pretty darn clean. I'll go back and double-check tho. Thx for your insights!
  6. Very simple scene, sort of a modern country theme to this room:p . Really worked over the lighting on this one, interested in feedback. Thx for taking a look:) (Lightwave FPrime, MC2, cooked overnight)
  7. Hardware Abstraction Layer. this i know from the following act of gracelessness: was using the end of the vacuum to suck the dust and crap out the inside of the comp and accidently knocked the r.a.i.d. connection from the hdd off its mb prongs (so gently that i didn't even notice). as i learned, during the p.o.s.t. the bios first checks the status of the hardware attached to the motherboard, then segues into the software, which kinda makes sense. short story, make sure everything is well attached
  8. http://www.wtools3d.com/ if your budget supports it, this is a pretty nifty lw tool. stays consistent with otacon's less moving parts philosophy, which i second . for me at least, modeling in lw is painlessly fast and easy. to each their own tho
  9. now THERE'S some heads up work jeff. looks like a fascinating concept. congratulations.
  10. this might help your research. good luck! Stylized Depiction
  11. buy it. you won't look back. sadly restricted to lw8 and below for the moment
  12. good modelling and textures. the house is floating tho. "ground" it somehow and the image will be top-shelf stuff!
  13. i tried the browser, i really did. just found it too frustrating and un-intuitive to work with. i use one of the shells on top of ie, maxthon it's now called. easy and does what i ask, with no frustration. the thunderbird e-mail client, on the other hand, is brilliant. took me less than ten minutes to set up to work exactly as i want. will stick with this one, and keep an eye on firefox to see how it improves.
  14. **looks up, embarrassed...who me??** no, that's not me on that web page it just seemed to me to be a suitable reference for ryan, sort of along the lines i understood him to be thinking. from a users point of view tho, it's pretty darned useful and is a benchmark of sorts in the lw community. i know it to be a one man operation (tho i'd hate to see his bookmarks folder), so the concept is a feasible one! best of luck to ryan in pursuing the same
  15. guessing from this discussion ryan, it seems to me you're thinking along these lines, but i may be wrong : http://members.shaw.ca/lightwavetutorials/Main_Menu.htm which is also a one man operation. seems do-able and would be a valuable resource, as is this fellow's page. great decision, go for it!
