  1. Thanks for the reply. But which noise threshold to adjust? There are two...
  2. Hi all, I use VRay GPU on a regular basis, but have to switch to CPU for an animation project. It's been so long since I've used vray cpu that I'm a bit fuzzy about some of the settings. Specially since GPU makes it so easy with only a couple of settings to tweak. So, what is the difference between the noise threshold setting in "Bucket Image Sampler" and the one in "Global DMC"? Is there a general range I should follow? tia...
  3. Yes, fstorm seems awesome with a dedicated and talented developer. Hope his legal problems are sorted out soon.
  4. I'm building a new workstation, and have to decide whether to get a basic gpu just for max viewport, or go for a beefier gpu to try out redshift/octane etc. I currently only use vray cpu, but wish to learn these new renderers. Been reading a lot of good things about redshift.
  5. Hi all, I'm an archviz professional working with max and vray. I'm wondering about GPU rendering and thinking about giving it a try. Does anyone here use any of the GPU renderers on a regular basis? What are you opinions about Octane and Redshift? (I suppose FStorm is stuck in legal hassels).
  6. Turn the color of vray light material to black. The texture will then be visible in viewport.
  7. Or in max, press f12, and bring z scale to zero. Then attach this drawing to a new shape to reset the transforms back to 100.
  8. Ok i'll search for his posts. Need to read up a lot on this topic.
  9. The spyder studio costs much more than the colormunki display? Can it calibrate printers as well?
  10. I've finally managed to convince my boss to upgrade all our crappy TN monitors to something decent. While NEC is out of the question, I can atleast get half decent Dell or LG ips panels. I'll also get a X-Rite colormunki. I'd like some guidance to make sure I'm doing this right. 1) I read somewhere that spyder express only works with a single monitor, while colormunki can calibrate mulitiple. I have 15 workstations, so i hope colormunki is the right tool for the job. 2) The more I read about this topic, the more confused I get. Can anyone point me to a good website where i can learn about the basics of calibrating? Here is my hw and sw - Win 8.1 > Max 2015 > VRay 3 > Photoshop CS6 > GTX 750 Ti > Dell/LG IPS monitor (the cheaper ones). I suppose the xrite software in basic mode will be eay enough. But what do I do after that? Do I need to do anything in Max and VRay? And how do I set up photoshop?
  11. Try applying a new material with a flat color and see if they render properly. Disable the hdri and check with just a color in max environment.
  12. I add the layers toolbar for this functionality.
  13. Well, the 5dmk3 is a full frame camera. So set your vray camera film gate to 36mm. Focal length to 30mm, zoom factor to 1.
  14. I have a tx550m at present. I'll search in my local seconds market for a 580.
