  1. Beautiful image..honestly i don't think i can do one as nice as this..but i'd give a comment on the exterior downlights with the bulge. it might be too strong as it casts a harsh light on the wall and floor. the hotspot might be too strong then it gets cut of abruptly on the flooring. Just had to comment because i like the work
  2. Depth of interiors are well shown via your shadows. Great rendering! I would love to do a siilar treatment on mine
  3. Amazing detail of grass and trees! very impressive.
  4. @ Raq007 - Thank you for your comment! i was thinking i was too lagging behind many artists in terms of quality. I have a bit more confidence now --Good observation with shadows! yup i missed out on that so i'll fix it --I'll check on the plans my client gave me, must've missed out on wall height --oh the chair on the left...i think my camera lens is too short? 16mm that's why it got pulled too much...i'll correct that @Braddewald - Exactly! i was thinking that too...either up my environment multiplier or my Vray light....anyhow both ways didn't make it look natural.....i dont know how to make it feel lighter. The heavy wood colors make it dark. Any suggestions? Thanks again guys!!
  5. Hi guys, been years since I've done 3D so my rendering needs improvement. Please see attached image for comments on lighting and material mapping/treatment. The image delivers client intent but how do i make it look realistic? (in terms of depth and shadows). It's still cartoony. The final works posted here blow me away! so much can happen in 5 years!!! My settings are typical: environment light- 1.0 vray light on all windows- 2.0 color mapping - linear multiply irradiance map and QMC for first and primary bounce adaptive image subdiv sampler - 0.01 direct light for hard shadows- 1.0 i think the other settings are default..... Thank you for those who'd take time commenting!
  6. Hi james, I turned the blur to zero and it went to 0.01. I think this is the smallest value? It helped in the mapping. It's more clear now. Thanks for your help! (are all material ID's set to 1.0 blur? as default?) Thanks!

    Mapping problem

Hi Guys, It's been ages since i've checked here, my rendering skills is in the dark ages. Would be greatly appreciated if you could shine light on my problem....... Please see attached for the image.....my mapping seems to be less pronounced at angles(if i render up close perpendicular to the mapping...the grains come out) and the grains of wood panelling seems to be obscure even at high resolutios. What mat cause this? Color threshold at .05 antialiasing filter: catmull rom irradiance map: very low (raising this didnt help) I hope this as a simple soltion i just overlooked. Thank you very much!
  8. Thanks for your replies! yes direct 3D is better as i know it. So who utilizes open GL?? Thanks for shedding light on the" videocard does not affect rendertime"....... AJLynn you're right, I believe ill be setting xrefs on my building scene as it has become quite heavy.
  9. Hi guys! I recently purchased an 8800Gt 512mb graphics card and max 9 hangs(closes) using direct 3D(on files around 80mb up with alot of geometry) when in shaded viewport...wireframe is fine though. Smaller files don't have a problem. When in Open GL ....max9 works fine during wireframe and shaded views. Question: 1. Is there a problem with the software?(i tried 2 other cards, a 9600gt and another8800gt with same error results in direct 3D) 2. What should i use in practice -direct3D or openGL?( i mean what would best optimize my videocard)what would be better? *i noticed rendering time on openGL and direct3D are only seconds apart with direct 3D being a bit quicker. Please let me know coz im not quite sure which is better thanks!! PS. my hardware:q9300 C2Q intel P35 board 2gb dual channel Corsair 8800GT 512mb GPU 500GB HDD SATA
  10. Hi manta!! found out my nurbs curves were doubled....hence overlapping curves. i removed it then converted to poly. everythings fine now. many thanks!!!
  11. Hi gurus, 1. i just did an organic model in nurbs, vray renders it with dark patches(as if there have been overlapping faces/goemetry).What to do? *(i rendered it without lights yet....just with an environment background multiplier of.75-1. 2. the blob model i created alone renders really slow *(3mins 640x480). material is white diffuse,no reflection,no displacement. *(6mins 640x480). material is diffuse R189 G213 B210 reflect value:50 refract value: 100/ subdivs both at 8. *model dimensions: 160m length x 60m width Is this normal? attached are the sample images. hope you guys cn help!! Thanks alot guys!!
  12. thanks renderbeads id check evermotion out
  13. thanks alex will try to check onyx i use max 7 and vray 1.47.....will try to upgrade to vray 1.5 vec of vraysun. thanks to you guys who replied!!
  14. hey!! has anyone here tried world builder for plant and tree rendering in vray?? is it any good? if not, what would be the easiest to use with several trees and plants(animated)........ i know theres xfrog,onyx,speedtree,natfx.....i haven't tried any though.thanks!!
  15. Hi ive seen alot of good renderings but im thinking, when i render out. . . my 3d becomes artificial bec. of the plants. Any ideas as to where i can get good vegetation(ex. 3d or not is ok)..... I need to render exeriot pool scenes with good looking and updated plants and trees. Id like to achieve this. Any suggestions?? thanks
