  1. Does anyone know how to add an dijitInlineEditBox on tree nodes? The idea is: when someone double click on a tree node, the inline edit box is displayed and the user may change the name (label) of the tree node. This may be done on a dojox grid, but currently not on the trees. Any suggestion to implement this will be greatly appreciated. Regards
  2. This is just unbelievable! I never thought they would port this to LightWave, looks like they've FINALLY seen the Light(Wave)! FPrime / Kray / Maxwell / FRYRender have some serious competition! This is just too much to take in! Read more about it here, their server must be taking a hammering, it's pretty busy so keep trying, took me a while to get there!
  3. I use Maxwell and it appears that your camera is not focusing on the object. In the HUD display you have that option turned on, if you make it active will show you the distance to the object. Make sure that you Maxwell camera is set to the distance to focus to. I found that to be the thing that frustrated me about Maxwell when I first started. I may be wrong, but I think I see that happening with yours. And 12 to 18 hours with Maxwell is not uncommon.
  4. mia_material (architectural) is great for interior scenes. It computes things such as glossy reflections way faster than regular phong, lambert, blinn etc... When i do interior scenes, i usually use nothing else than mia_material. It allows you to create physically correct photorealistic material. Theres no need for presets when you handle it. Just practice a little and you will get a grip of it fast. I can make physically correct glass, gold, chrome, washed chrome etc... in just a few seconds. Hope it helps.
  5. I am unable to view my model with the any materials that were applied with 3ds max. My work flow: 1. Created 2 primitive types (flag pole with flag) 2. Applied UVW Map to each mesh 3. Converted both to Editable Poly 4. Created 2 seperate materials and gave them a numerical ID 5. Assigned the IDs to the correct mesh objects 6a. Export to TVM (Skin) 6b. Export to TVM (Physique) The resulting model is still white within the model viewer... Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong!?!? Thanks!
  6. please tell me how can i change pivot point after applying bend modifier to a box? after i apply bend modifier, i need to bend it again to the same side. but pivot point must be changed to the top of the object. hope you understand. sorry for my bad English. Thanks
  7. looking great as usual, Ross. floor bump is a bit too strong IMHO backsplash is just boring... I would do some cool tile... have you scene some of the great glass tiles they have now? (I'm thinking of the 1x1 or 2x2 red glass tiles)
  8. well the last ting that ended up happening was i got disk worrier and it didnt work, my hard drive crashed and apple replaced it free of charge cause i had warrenty
  9. Go with the iMac. With the i7 and the 8GB of ram everything should run just as well as a Mac Pro. With the turbo mode on the i7 chip it can over clock to over 3GHz and all so the hyper threading it be like running 8 cores. Of course the only down side is if Apple bring out new GPU in the macs you cant update the one in the imac, and as you are a heavy HD video and photoshop user a Mac Pro will allow you easy upgrading in GPU.
  10. I'm a Mac user with a DSL wireless modem/router. I've been looking at NAS (network-attached storage) drives, but I've never used one. I'm wondering if I can access a NAS remotely (when I'm away from my office) without my computer being on. (I'm familiar with Back To My Mac, but it seems buggy and I'd prefer not to leave the 'puter on 24/7). Can I access a NAS drive connected to my router/modem without a computer powered on? If so, do I need a static IP?

  12. Does anyone remember the computer desks that were on sale in the 1990s (does anyone, for that matter, even remember the 1990s? They're, like, a whole other millennium, dude...)? The one that I had was designed so that the monitor was slung lower at the back; the screen was tilted up, as a result, at an angle of around 45Ëš, with the bottom lip of the monitor at about the level of the desk and the back of the monitor (these were, of course, CRT displays; if you don't know what one is, ask a grownup to explain them, along with phones that were attached to your house) several inches lower than the desk itself. My wife had an even better one the monitor was suspended completely under the desk; the surface of the desk was made of glass, so the monitor was visible but, again, at a comfortable angle to look at (unless you put something on the glass). I've looked for pictures on the Google, but to no avail. Steve _______________________________________ pet strollers | pet car seats
  13. I have a scene with 1.4 mil polys and Im rendering with VRay. The first step in the rendering process is "Transforming Vertices". This step takes about 10 mins before moving to the next, and I can't cancel while it's transforming vertices. Now I have had scenes with this many polys before but it usually doesn't take that long to complete this step. Is it a memory issue? How can I optimize this step???
