  1. Thanks a lot, Dimitris and sorry for the long time to reply, I didn't even realise you have posted... Anyway, got myself a Corsair K95 Black (non RGB) with 18 macro buttons. Indeed, the procedure is to set a shortcut to an action in 3DS Max first (in my case I set Alt+1 for LOOP edges) and then in the Corsair software I had to assign that Alt+1 combination to a certain macro key (one of the 18 G keys). And it worked Thanks for the help, guys.
  2. Hi all, My old keyboard broke and want to replace it with something like the Corsair K95 Mechanical Keyboard. That one has additional 18 G-keys which can hold up to 108 macros (according to Corsair's web-site). I've never used a keyboard with G-keys before, just did a search online and as it turns out some guy had successfully assigned G-keys in his AutoCAD Civil 3D. Can anybody who uses similar keyboard confirm if I can assign various commands in 3DS Max to the G-keys please? If possible- how should I go about assigning the G-keys in Max? Is that even done within Max or I need to use the Corsair software to customise the keys to work with Max.I know how to assign regular keys to different commands I am mostly interested in modelling and think this can be very helpful for me. Thank you very much.
  3. Thanks guys, I gave Bridge a try and it worked flawlessly. Here's a link to the video that shows how it's done: All the best.
  4. Much appreciated, guys. I will give that a try tonight. Have a good one
  5. Thanks for that, so that's definitely possible with Lightroom? I ask because I've never used it...
  6. Hi all, Do you think it's possible to use Photoshop or other program to batch convert multiple RAW files into JPEGs considering it's not just the conversion that is needed but also some changes to Exposure, Contrast and so on applied to each image? I have a whole bunch of overexposed images which I need to fix. What I currently do is- I bring a RAW file into Photoshop, tweak some of the settings (Exposure, Contrast) in the initial dialog window, Save the settings in an .xmp file. Then I use that file to apply the same tweaked settings to each subsequent RAW file. I tried recording an Action in Photoshop ( I recorded the process of opening the RAW file and changing the Exposure) but that only partially worked and didn't really save that much time since manual input on my part was still needed. Many thanks for any help.
  7. I use the wired Space Navigator and absolutely love it. Navigating with in 3DS Max (and SketchUp Pro for that matter) is absolutely amazing. Although I know several people who can't believe that I find it so useful- they don't and said that it took too long for them to "adjust" to the new navigation methed. It is true though that the drivers are a hit or miss. I haven't had any issues with the latest drivers but before...2-3 years ago... oh my God. Also- the navigation with it is awesome in Max and SketchUp but horrible in AutoCAD, possibly even in other 2D and 3D packages. Also- like Juraj said, if the scene becomes too big Space Navigator gets laggy. Navigation (paning, rotating, zooming) takes a second to start and even then it will be slower than usual. I still use it in situations like that, I just use the "zoom to selected" more often. All negatives taken into account- I still would not go back to a regular navigation without Space Navigation. It's not as effective. Space Navigator FTW
  8. Well, I had a Windows Phone (Lumia 800) before, I was on Android and WebOS before that. Never had the itch to try an iPhone simply because the way its OS looked, great hardware otherwise. I will be most likely getting the Lumia 950XL or 950 as soon as they come out, if for some reason don't like them then I'll get Lumia 1520. Windows 10 mobile looks really nice on the many videos on YouTube. Notification Center, Continuum, rock solid hardware... I am pretty sure not the entire OS will be to my liking and as for the app support- I rarely use any apps anyway. If they are there when I need them- good, if not- meh. Besides that we'll get wireless charging (still miss it since my Palm Pre) and microSD card support -yeaaaahhhhhhh baby.
  9. Yep, changing the wire/object colour doesn't show the OK button. Fortunately hitting Enter on the keyboard solves that.
  10. Well, I have similar issues with the Light Cache. I don't get these colour shifts but the Light Cache preview disappears and to get it to show I need to zoom in and out. I posted the issue on Chaos Groups forum and the support said they were aware of the issue. I doesn't happen every time but it's annoying as hell since Light Cache is so useful for previews. Hope you get your issue solved.
  11. I have a 4K monitor and so far no such issue with 3DS Max/V-Ray and the light cache...or at any stage in the rendering process for that matter. Does that only happen when it calculates the Light Cache? Not outside of Max/VRay? Like...in Windows UI? Get the latest graphics drivers, or maybe test it on a lower resolution to see if the problem persists...
  12. Thank you very much, Justin. Found it, was called "Default to By layer for New Nodes", in Preferences/ General, if someone else has the same issue. Take care.
  13. Hey guys, I was wondering- is there a way to have the "By Layer" in Object Properties to be ON by default when creating new object in 3DS Max? How is that controlled? I noticed that on one of the computers a t work on Max 2016 it is ON when creating a new object but on the other ones it isn't. Cheers, Jules.
  14. Thanks, Martin. I will try that one tonight. I gave the Steelseries Engine 2 a try the other day but it doesn't allow assigning things to the mouse buttons.
