  1. Just tried blender and it looks pretty good..... except the undo is broken, pretty fundamental that one. Otherwise love the interface etc.
  2. hi macker, try this method.. pretty stratightforward. open google earth pro, find your site, has to have 3d buildings on obviously. Incrementally orbit/rotate around the site (shift + arrow key), save each screenshot, maybe about 30-40 rotates at most. Open recap, load the images, build the model, export it to 3dsmax, scale it up to your unit size and voila... simples good luck! cheers, j
  3. Hi Guys, any help welcome. Vray3.30.05 & 3dsmax 2016. VrayRT is not showing bitmaps under Cuda GPU settings, it does under CPU ? Tried fiddling with all the GPU texture settings with no luck. Very strange as I'm fine with quadro k6000 and 64gb system ram. Seems to show other materials from vray fine such as CarPaintMtl and HDRI background but alas no textures such as my wood bitmaps. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jason
  4. Alastair, http://www.vishopper.com is another good alternative to vizpeople, between these two suppliers you'd have enough for most cases. Suffice to say adding some of your own cut-outs is always a good idea. Good luck.
  5. How many bugs does this release have??? The groups one is shocking, the layer dialogue boxes is still cack, try copying rhino 3dsmax, a child can use that! Maybe some basic improvements in modelling would be useful such as rotate by reference, copy and paste, extrude by snapping, basic stuff done so much better in other programs. Don't get me started on VrayRT and activeshade, what a shambles. The new physical camera is at best moronic, try selecting cameras, yes this is with a quadro k6000. Sort out viewport clipping and zooming in perspective, that ain't difficult. What about better material displays whilst we're at it, talk about counter intuitive and cumbersome ! Sort out the grids so they don't disappear by default in perspective mode. The list is endless, Max is a great problem but with a hell of a lot of handicaps.
  6. sdds, Copy the ProEXR Comp Creator supplied by Fnord into after effects plug-in directory. Then with After Effects go to file menu and scroll down to Create ProEXR Layer Comp. Obviously you need to have your exr selected before you do this. My advice is dont bother just yet with exr workflow in after effects as it's ridiculously slow, get to grips with 3ds Max Composite (Toxik) as this chews through EXR files, of course this workflow is nodal so will take some time to get upto speed. Good luck
  7. Hi all, Could anyone point me in a good direction for V-Ray training courses within 3ds Max at an intermediate to advanced level. The course would ideally be aimed at architectural visualisation, either in or nearby London. I'm enquiring at Blue GFX but would appreciate any other help or suggestions. Also any After Effects courses along the same lines would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Jason
