  1. Me too. I actually scheduled an hour everyday for trawling the forums, I got quite uppity if anyone in the office moaned- "THIS IS WORK!" I'd say, reaching for my headphones... I'm glad they were active when I was "learning my craft" (still am of course), it must be a bit harder these days for beginners. But I'm as much to blame as anyone, can't remember the last time I was here. First click, a thread with VelvetElvis in, so I consider that a win! Sorry Francisco, can't really add any useful comments re your question.
  2. I don't think you could call it a verified view tbh. We outsource all verified views, mainly for insurance purposes. If you have a good 3d context model (which have tolerances of course) or some known measurements you can use SynthEyes to match a photo really well, but we'd never claim they were verified. We demonstrate the accuracy with a wireline of the context model over the photo as well as the final image. Edit: Anecdotally, I've noticed a lot more demand for multiple verified views of our projects in London recently, rendered as oppose to wirelines. One planner recently requested 14 verified views... The client pushed back (obvs) and we handled a lot with this photogrammetry technique.
  3. I'm not sure I'd hang one on my walls, but I can't help but secretly admire Thomas Kinkade. I also like Evgeny Lushpin, similar style.
  4. BF + LC. I'm happy with 720p @30fps... or I was until I read this thread. I aim for about 5 or 6 minutes a frame, over 10 minutes is a no no for me.
  5. I think splines are tricky in Maxscript... You could use this script (edit: different to the one you tried, works for me in 2016) to randomly select segments and then assign IDs manually. Can you not do it in Railclone with the Random Node?
  6. Right- so when a render finishes, you save two copies. Makes sense.
  7. Interesting- my ears prick up whenever you drop one of your tips Scott. I rendered about 20 options for a facade recently, stacked up in a smart layer with adjustments and context above, but I don't like the idea of losing previous versions by overwriting. So do you keep a copy of previously rendered versions (i.e. raw renders) somehow?
  8. Hi everyone, Again, like last month, sorry for the change of date to accommodate speakers from far flung places! June's 3dsLondon will be on TUESDAY 6TH JUNE at Truckles. Chris and Fabrice are coming along to talk about all things Unreal- Fabrice spoke last year and was excellent. I didn't put two and two together when I met Chris a few months ago (at the excellent V-Ray User Group) but he literally wrote the book I learnt 3ds Max from around seventeen years ago... So I'm very glad to welcome him to 3ds London! Chris Murray is the Technical Marketing Manager for the Enterprise Division of Epic Games, an experienced 3D artist/animator and creative technologist. He is the former Technical Marketing Manager for Autodesk’s 3ds Max animation software. He has created digital 3D content for clients such as CNN.com, Walt Disney Attractions, Johnson & Johnson, CanonUSA, ABC television, Nickelodeon, and Sega. Murray has maintained a career-long relationship with learning. He was research associate at the Insitute for Simulation and Training – Media Convergence Lab at the University of Central Florida and was a department chair in Digital Production at Full Sail University. Chris is an experienced presenter, Youtube personality, and book author (Mastering 3D Studio Max, Sybex) He holds an MFA in computer animation. Follow Chris on Twitter @chrismmurray or on his Youtube channel 3dsmaxtrainer. Described by Thomas Heatherwick as ‘a craftsman of dreams and apparitions’, Fabrice Bourelly is an architect, artist and 3D visualizer who has become a leading user and teacher of Epic Game’s Unreal Engine over the past year. Fabrice’s client list includes Google, IDEO, Thomas Heatherwick, Anish Kapoor, Bentley Motors and Philippe Starck. Follow Fabrice on his blog to learn Unreal Engine tips and tricks. We have two other speakers lined up, I will update this page ASAP subject to confirmation. Update: Coming in July! So, this month marks ten years of 3ds London! If you came along to the first one, thank you, hope to see you at this one. Unless, perhaps, you've been coming along for ten years and are yet to present... Actually, doesn't matter how long you've been coming, please think about presenting and talk to me about it. Follow @3dslondon and www.meetup.com/3dslondon/. See you there, Simon
  9. I went to an Arch Viz conference organised by Jeff in San Diego many years ago, and Venice last year. They were both great. Venice worked out pretty reasonable, although I've only got a certain number of Ryan Air flights left in me... You should ask your employer, it would only demonstrate how keen you are, and the worst they can say is no? It's not really on the same level as the conferences posted by Jeff, but 3ds London is 90% Arch Viz, free and (normally) every month... Come and present your work Chris, they might stump up for a train ticket!
