  1. You can still get Windows XP 64bit. Try http://www.scan.co.uk I brought lots of OEM software yes legally not ebay copies. I think your best route is to upgrade as you go along & replace/upgrade as required. Bear in mind that not all your software will be 64 bit yet & the main sticking point is really the drivers. Even though support (might) end for XP this year, its pretty soild now and there will be considerable number of stuidos still using this OS.
  2. They had better not give up the day job!
  3. Dave I think you need a little bit more indirect, its just the side of the building / tanks looks a tad too dark. Also you could do with a higher res grass map. Try creating a mowed lawn effect, that should help breakup the tile of the lawn, plus you should be able to create this really easy using a gradient and blend maps. You really need a tarmac map, some lines on the roads too. Where the tanks park are likely to be concrete panels so again it will help to brake up the flat areas. How about some of the kit next to the tanks maybe fuel barells, pallets with anumitions etc. Make it look busy. You could add some signage, you know the sort, stop signs etc. Just some ideas. Regards Anthony
  4. Mrwhite 1. try using the bitmap pager, to control how many maps are loaded into RAM. 2. Set your windows virtiual memory to the highest it will go (4096) 3. If your computer supports it you may be able to use the 3GB switch, in the boot.ini file. Be WARNED this may prevent your computer from starting at all, check motherboard documention first. 4. Finally try net rendering the image, backburner requires significantly less resources than 3dsmax and its UI. Discreets website has addational information on configuring the bitmap pager. You can discoved about the 3GB switch from microsoft. (Sorry to state the obvious) Anthony
