  1. Are you using a falloff map in your reflection slot, if so, switch the type from fresnel to perp/parallel (or vise versa) and see if that fixes it.. Ps that's not the roof, that's the ceiling
  2. I agree with Nick... Dell U2711 is amazing value and quality. It's matt so can be a bit grainy, but that's better than reflections. Keep in mind it's a wide gamut monitor so you have to make sure you have your head wrapped around colour management etc.
  3. Hey Nic.. Flood Slicer pretty much have things sewn up here in Melbs these days... They land most of the big jobs, Scharp still doing ok from what I hear, but there's not many around who can compete with the consistent quality of FS.
  4. hey, i modelled the wheel for that original image of the Southern Star above
  5. http://www.htc.com/au/product/touch3g/overview.html http://www.htc.com/au/product/touchpro/overview.html these new HPC phones are cool.. this is the australian site, but im sure the same models are avail in the states.
  6. had similar problem with xp64 and my network drive, though it wasn't related to rendering.. problem turned out to be caused by the anti-virus software i was using (avast).. disable it and see if that's the problem.. if it is the problem, try using NOD32 antivirus instead, it fixed the issue for me.
  7. * Your score: 0 * Gender: Male * Age range: 30-39 * Best score for your gender and age range: 0 * Highest score for your gender and age range: 1455 sony trinitron
  8. I've tried outsourcing jobs or even parts or jobs to China.. same experience.. nothing but pain.. Communication is definately the biggest issue, but I've found that a lot of the freelancers over there don't seem to understand drawings properly which is a massive headache.. they seem to generally have good art training but less training in the way of architecture/design. Also, clients seem to be opposed to it, they tend to want to be able to deal directly with the person doing the work.
  9. u can get the 8800GT with 1gig. fair bit cheaper than the fx1700, and i think u can software mod it into a fx1700 anyway, if you really need to.
  10. I have 3 trinitrons, all on their way out too.. one of them had the same prob as yours, ie, one of the primary colours dropping out, and the other two have developed a shaky picture. I've just ordered one of these.. comparable to the Eizo's but a lot more budget friendly; http://www.necvisualsystems.com/Products/Product/?product=4af7b335-9302-4429-8d73-74c35a363b57
  11. hi, nice photo... looks like it was a nice day in brissie to be up in a chopper... i think your materials/reflections need bit of work.. and maybe some detail in the model? also, looks like there's a seam in whatever's being reflected running down the centre of the building on the right?
  12. what about the city in burnout paradise? whoa! goes on forever.
  13. It's a mostly expat city... less than 20% of Dubai's population are national Arabs.
  14. LOL... i remember that guy came with the Lightscape libraries.. he even gets used by some in interior scenes. Be funny if someone could track him down, kinda like a 'where are they now' for viz nerds.
  15. top quality interiors as usual.. do u use some sort of chromatic aberration filter on your images?
