  1. I agree, Devin. Things like 'KinectFusion' look awesome, but I think it's still a proof of concept. Hopefully we can get our hands on it sooner than later.
  2. I'm about to suggest something that I swore I would never use....but it does work in cases like this. The 'watercolor' filter in Photoshop, if done CORRECTLY will clean this up to some extent. If you are rushed, this may be best.
  3. Hey all, So I've decided to start toying with the Kinect to see what it can do for Arch Viz. I've seen enough videos and read enough to be partially won over. Does anybody have opinions on the use of this in the industry? I believe that the fact that we have access to such an inexpensive device that can help us visualize our models while scanning environments and even creating interactive architecture with robotics is certainly worth looking into. Are there any thoughts on the subject or where you see it leading? Has anybody had any experience with it yet? Aaron
  4. Sometimes you just have to refocus the camera by hitting 'z' on the object.
  5. Got it! Thanks a lot. You know, to my shame I've been using MAX for over a decade now off-and-on and this is my first time customizing the quad menu...or paying any attention to it. I feel like my productivity could really increase if I just used it.
  6. I really like having the ability to put realtime shading/ambient occlusion and Exposure settings in the viewport. It's just that I want it off about as much as I want them on and I hate going through the dropdown menu each time I want to change it. Has anybody put these on a shortcut or a menu button. Is that possible and I'm just missing it in the User Interface customization? Aaron
  7. After some searching, I think I'm going to try out Adobe Edge.
  8. I would like to make an interactive presentation which could be shown on a PC or tablet. Flash comes to mind, but I know it won't run in an I-Pad, which is a must. What's the next best option? By interactive, I mean being able to program in custom events with what happens when a user clicks certain objects. Thanks! Aaron
  9. I don't believe that the .mat extension would work in sketchup, as it's a 3d max file format. If it is urgent, I would recomened downloading a trial of 3D Studio, opening the .mat file and copying the material settings into your sketchup material.
  10. I have a series of planes (separate objects) that are all rotated a little differently. Can I align these to a certain plane to flatten them out so I can take their profiles into autocad? From what I've seen, the 'make coplanar' command in the poly mode simply projects it onto the surface...I don't want the deformation. I want it rotated so it stays true to it's size. Thanks Aaron
  11. Much better! Very impressive for real-time. What engine are you using?
  12. That sounds like it would be back breaking to use a lot of those in a scene...do you find the workflow with growfx suitable? I've been tempted to buy it, but I'm afraid it would be too much of a resource hog.
  13. Looks excellent...especially the 2nd image. How many polys are in one rose 'plant'?
  14. Really looking good...although I'm a bit at a loss on the 2nd rendering. Technically speaking, the lighting is very good...but the sun beams are distracting and the view is ambiguous and somewhat meaningless to me. While I think it looks nice, it doesn't perform well from a marketing view point.
