  1. Thanks. I'm leaning towards hosting it on a web site. Hopefully we can figure out something easy. I know there are some WordPress plugins, but we'll see.
  2. Wow it has been a long time since I have been on here. I'm looking for a good way to present 360 spin around views. Not like a panoramic view looking out, but the opposite. Like what you see on many product websites. I have several clients that request their homes to be viewed all the way around. So far, we have been presenting it by using Object2VR and loading the files (100 frames rendered in a circle around the building) into their GGPKG viewer. That's fine when we are presenting, but we have to supply the image files, an html file and an xml file, as well as instructions on how to download and use the GGPKG viewer. Not at all a client friendly way of distributing their project. I'm wanting to just supply them with a link to click and be able to view it and scrub back and forth in their browser. Has anyone done this, if so what method do you use?
  3. I think the key here is the Surface has a touch screen pen display. I'm doubtful any lap top will be able to run everything I do with ease, including zbrush modeling with the touch screen display, but the Surfaces are gaining popularity, so I just thought I would ask if anyone has ever put the newer Surfaces to the test.
  4. I am starting a new job soon and am being asked about my hardware requirements. One thing unique about this job is my opportunity to work between 2 separate offices. So, my thought is to have a decent rendering farm, or at least a solid workstation (or combination of both) handle the bulk of my high resolution still renderings, and potentially have a Surface Laptop for my day to day modeling. I work on architectural projects, modeling mainly large commercial buildings. Most of the work, however is with religious buildings that have highly detailed architectural moldings, ceilings with carved details, painted and gold leaf stencil and hand painted linework, swirls, florals and other details on the walls and ceilings. The scenes will have highly detailed furniture, chandeliers, windows, mirrors and the related framework. I mainly render high res (not crazy high res, just like 4000 pixels wide) stills. Not hardly any animations. Software I use: 3ds Max - for modeling and scene set up V-ray - for rendering withing max Photoshop - for post editing, as well as photo overlays with renderings Zbrush - for modeling highly detailed custom furniture Revit - mainly occasionally opening, saving and exporting I'm really interested in using the Surface for Zbrush modeling.
  5. Dilemma: I have an architectural animation that I completed for a client several months ago which contains 10-12 buildings. The owner of the property has decided to change a couple materials. To save tome time, I planned to simply create some matte layers to use as selections to apply a hue and saturation adjustment in after effects. The problem is, I can't get it to work. I have saved png files with only the new color showing up in the image. Everything else is rendered as transparent background using matte object with vray and 3ds max (effect alpha -1 in the v-ray properties). It is saving the frame as I expected, but I can't seem to get an adjustment layer to only use the alpha from this new rendered png to work the way I want. my comp looks like this: Layer 1: adjustment layer with hue and saturation applied. Set matte effect has the take matte from layer set on "test.png" Layer 2: original rendered frame Layer 3: test.png Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have tried several options for several hours, and I can't seem to make it work.
  6. Cool. Let me know if you come up with any solutions. I have posted it on chaos group with no reply, but we'll see.
  7. Thanks for the heads up. I added the texture to the .zip. So is my only solution to use an invisible domelight?
  8. After hours of trying every setting I can think of, I have been unsuccessful at figuring out this glass issue. To sum up my needs: 1. black background, so I can replace the background) 2. have reflection saved in the alpha in a rendered png 3. have environment effects apparent in the reflections (floor particularly) If anyone has a spare moment to download my file, I would love it if someone could take a look and let me know what I'm missing. Like I said, I have done this may times in the past, but I haven;t had a similar scene pop up for well over a year, so I'm not sure if there is a new setting I need to be aware of, or what. Here is the scene I have made available.
  9. Weird, that made the glass render properly, but the glass isn't allowing the environment in for reflection on the inside of the glass. Look at the floor. Below is a reference just so you can see where the glass is positioned. Only the one pane is moved from the door.
  10. I have determined the problem is in the glass. I moved one of the pieces of glass outside about a foot. Now I'm just trouble shooting things to figure out what is causing it to be white any time an environment is involved with the reflection.
  11. Thanks for the reply Francisco. I am using 3.20.03. I did all that before, and it isn't rendering the background black.
  12. I'm not sure if these are some issues that have come up in the last couple releases of v-ray, but I don't ever remember having the issues in the past. When rendering an interior scene, I would like to replace the background in post. I have had best luck by rendering the scene with a black background, and saving as a png. However, for some reason, it isn't actually rendering with black background unless I turn off GI environment, but then the lighting quality is lacking. If I uncheck reflection/refraction environment I get the results in the alpha that I want, but there is no reflection of the environment on my floor and other objects in the scene. GI environment ON / Reflection/refraction environment ON: GI environment ON / Reflection/refraction environment OFF: Even the second option with the r/r environment turned off is not saving the reflection in the alpha. This has never been a problem in the past, but I haven't had projects that have this view/condition in a long time, so I'm not sure what I'm missing to get this to render properly. Any suggestions would be great.
