  1. I intended to do a clean install for my friend...he had X64, so I told him to back everything up cause I was going to wipe it clean...well I was busy doing other stuff at the same time...it never asked me to format and I never noticed...at the end it restarts...all is looking good and then I notice all his stuff is still there...I thought only vista could upgrade...confused ??

  3. it is nice to get 20% more performance...there is no i7 option for the Imac...so I would have to say no to the i5...
  4. I don't know how true this is...but according to wikipedia hyperthreading is disabled in the current i5's...you might want to investigate that first... Lynnfield Main article: Lynnfield (microprocessor) On September 8, 2009, Intel released the first Core i5 processor: The Core i5 750,[1] which is a 2.66 GHz quad-core Lynnfield processor with Hyper-threading disabled. Lynnfield Core i5 processors have an 8 MB L3 cache, a DMI bus running at 2.5 GT/s and support for dual-channel DDR3-800/1066/1333 memory. The same processors with different sets of features (Hyper-Threading and other clock frequencies) enabled are sold as Core i7-8xx and Xeon 3400-series processors, which should not be confused with high-end Core i7-9xx and Xeon 3500-series processors based on Bloomfield.
  5. I think you could regret not getting the Mac Pro later on...if your purpose is to use this as a rendering machine then having the extra 4 physical cores would be to your advantage, not to mention upgrade options...of coarse you could always buy a fairly cheap PC to use as a render slave...something to think about...
  6. ray tracing is a technique for generating an image by tracing the path of light through pixels in an image plane... most render engines do this...MR, VRAY, FinalRender, Brazil and so on...
  7. I love it...it looks perfect on my monitor...
  8. could be a grouping error...or perhaps you imported a raytrasce material as a hitch hiker... ungroup the models that came in, if they are grouped...and go through the scene materials to make sure there aren't any raytrace materials in there...
  9. a long time ago I used BINK...it came with its own player...used it with an autoplay file...worked pretty good....don't know about now... http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm check it out...
  10. hmmmm...can't Max render to MP4 ? which can be played with Quicktime... I don't use Max anymore, but I would think that it would render to MP4...
  11. They do these things in a futile attempt to stop pirating, which protects them for about 5 minutes give or take...and leaves all the licensed customers to pay the toll...

    Vray presets...

thats very interesting...and how is that animation coming along, that you started rendering about a year ago...lol
  13. Lol...that's funny I just commented in the other thread about MS insane version scheme...it really makes me appreciate Apple more and more, they have one OS that comes with every feature they offer...that is exactly the way its supposed to be...I only run windows as a guest OS now, and have started using Modo...there were only 2 programs I couldn't find a substitute for, one was a 3D translator and the other was a website creation program that I really like...
