  1. I am currently working on a project and I don't have time to dedicate to modelling a couple of objects. I am in need of a urinal and a paper towel dispenser. I have the manufacturer's info available. I am using 3d Max 2012. Please contact me if you are interested and can produce an accurate representation of the object. I will pass on the information once contacted and then we can discuss cost and timeline. Thanks. Jophus14@gmail.com
  2. The C4D plugin is an all-in-one plugin. I'm not sure of the combined cost of the Max plugins, but the C4D plugin is $199. No need to have three or four separate plugins for your machine either.
  3. GreyscaleGorilla just come out with a sweet plugin for Cinema4D called Transform. Anyone know if there is a similar plugin like this for Max? http://greyscalegorilla.com/transform/
  4. You can always find a furniture company catalog in PDF format and use the people that are sitting/standing in a similar position as your furniture placement, cut them out in PS and then tweak their saturation/highlights.
  5. It might be smart to look into getting a plugin to scatter the trees randomly so you don't have to waste time copying, scaling, rotating and adjusting for collision. If you can get the terrain worked out rather easily, the rest of the work will just be cosmetic.
  6. I hear what you are saying Scott. I guess my issue with this project is that someone else put in the time and effort to come up with a creative way of representing what their client has asked for and then a competitor comes along and want someone else to duplicate exactly what has been done. I understand that a paying client should get what they ask for, but this isn't a personal project so I don't have a say in the cost nor am I able to persuade the client to take a different approach. They like what they see and they want it for their site. As far as people duplicating a distinct style such as Alex Roman, I don't consider these people artists. It is good to get inspired by his work since it is truly amazing, but to blatantly come out and say, "I based this image off of what I have seen (name artist here) do" is kind of sad....especially when there is a "Making Of" for the project. There are many artists on this site as well as others that I look up to for inspiration and those are the artists that make this field fun to be in. They are the ones pushing ideas and techniques that allow for advances in this over-saturated field that we are all a part of.
  7. Have any of you had a client that asked you to basically copy an image style or animation that one of their competitors has on their website? I'm talking, "Go to this website, do what they did but switch some of the items." If so, how did you feel about doing the work?
  8. It wouldn't make sense to continue to build pieces that already exist if you are working with a deadline and a budget. A place like DesignConnected exists to help artists out with high quality furniture from some of the best furniture companies in the business. I have several DesignCOnnected pieces and they are great.
  9. I'm looking for any advise on how to create this look of white glass as a Vray material. As you can see, the glass in reflective but not 100% and there is very little noise in the material. By adjusting the reflect color and the refl. glossiness in Vray, I can get a nice reflection but the material is coming out noisy. I have my material at 25 subdivs and the lights are at 16 subdivs. I can post my material settings if needed. Any help is appreciated.
  10. Both magazines are very limited in articles based on Arch Viz. You might get an article or short tutorial here and there, but that's about it.
  11. Originally I thought this was all a 3D animation, but I just watched the "Making Of" and it is actually stop motion. You have to watch the "Making Of" to truly appreciate how much work went into this. Enjoi. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMfSGt6rHos Making Of:
  12. Are you sure it's not a reflection of your background? Switch the background to a solid color and try it.
  13. Maxer: I believe years of experience with regard to how much someone earns couldn't be justified due to location as well as how much they started off making. I agree that an artist working in a firm would get paid less (I know I do) than a freelance artist. Working at a firm is almost guaranteed work (even when it's shitty work) and the possibility of working for clients that you might not have access to otherwise. The benefits to freelance work is that it is almost pure profit and you get to work on projects and for companies that you are truly interested in.
  14. Thank you Peter for the suggestion. I ended up just drawing splines for every triangle (707 triangles in all). It was a pain but I like how the geometry turned out. Thanks again to all of you for your help. It's much appreciated.
