  1. Nice one derek, and congrats to you and the team on winning. I worked on one of the other entrys to the competition, needless to say we didn't win!
  2. I would say PC world (dont swear!!), I saw an ad the other night on tv for a core2 based system for about £600. BUT you wanted GOOD customer service not sh** service!!! Yes I cant stand PC world:mad: My advice would be to have a crack at building a system yourself, works out alot cheaper. You could try scan- http://scan.co.uk/ they sell ready built systems, also parts for self builds and to top it off, good customer service..
  3. I've just got a couple of asus P5B mobo's, 965 chip, Had them a couple of weeks now and no probs. These are just render slave's though.
  4. jow

    scatter a vray proxy

There is also a free scatter tool that supports proxies at- http://www.maxplugins.de/ Just do a search for "scatter";)
  5. Yeah its happened to me before, think its due to there anti-spam software... You could try PM'ing Vlado or go on the Chaos forum and post on there.
  6. have alook here- http://support.microsoft.com/?kbID=810371 I had problems before, booting up and windows not seeing my Gfx card, thought it was a Gfx driver update i'd made (release 90 nvidia) but turned out it wasnt. Changed the boot.ini file to read- multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional 3GB" /3GB/Userva=2900 Works fine now;)
  7. Stuart, i'd check back at Xfrog's website, there are demos of plant models and the modelling software to download direct.
  8. Drag the enviro bitmap to your material editor then change the mapping there. The scene is dark cos ethier a, your glass mat doesn't have "affect shadows" ticked or your vray lights are the wrong way round and not invisable...
  9. Its cos you are using "screen" mapping for the bitmap, change it to spherical or even better add it in post.
  10. Hey James, GI was IRmap, medium preset with min/max changed to -4/-2 and LC on default settings. Rendered at 1400x1050 on a single AMD x2. Render time 10 hours including GI, and wait for it, time to Scatter 100000 Proxies... 8 hours!!!!
  11. Brian, I done a similar thing a couple of months ago, only with Xfrog trees, 100000 of them as a test to see how many trees i could render:cool: - http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/5773/100000trees7dt.jpg
  12. Glad to here its working now:) Another thing you might find is problems with your graphics card ( i had probs with the Nvidia release 80-81 driver , seems ok with release 90 thou). Also make sure you've got enough Page file allocated (vitural ram), you gonna need 2.5 -3gb. Set both the initial and maximum sizeto the same amount to avoid fragmenting.
  13. No worries, PM me if you need help with the 3GB thingy...
  14. Some links about it http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/PAEmem.mspx http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/exchange/guides/E2k3Perf_ScalGuide/e834e9c7-708c-43bf-b877-e14ae443ecbf.mspx?mfr=true http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328882/
