  1. not sure if anyone still having problems with this, but with Physical Cams make sure you have motion blur ticked on the camera as well as the main setting. works for me!
  2. Need more processing powerrrrrr!!!!!!!!......
  3. Genius! Just what i am after... Particles for me are the best way to create realistic waveforms, that you get from having some bits slower than others. Many Thanks Nils! Christiaan
  4. thanks for the input guys, i'll look into these ideas... lots to do!
  5. Dear All, I've got a difficult effect to try and create, with a few constraints that i need to stick to. This link shows the effect that i am after. A little info on my scene. 23ft Reception / Atrium with 2 walls that have water running down, Render time for the base render is already about the 2 hour mark so i need to render this effect as a separate pass. The wall it runs down is a glossy tile. Using Mental Ray and 3ds Max Design 2009. Compositing in After Effects CS4. At the moment i am using a PFLOW with a noise map on instanced planes (with motion blur) It kind of works but i'm about to try and see if the MR Ocean Map as an animated texture might do the trick. Anyway if anyone has any theories, i'd be glad to hear them Many Thanks Chris
  6. Hi Dave, I'm also playing with contour shaders, but in max 2009. I'm assuming the options will be the same. If you drag the contour contrast map into a material slot in your material editor, you get a lot more options chosing between material contours or face etc. If you increase the depth then you are also able to see the lines through glass objects. My only problem is that i can't seem to change the quality settings of the actual lines to make sure they are constantly crisp. Hope that helps. Chris
  7. Do we not get to know the results for 2nd? 3rd etc for the AVC?
  8. Hey Everyone, I'm an experienced Vray user but haven't tried much with the Vray Phys cam and Sun system. I've seen there are lots of threads about it so have got most of my issues solved... There are just 1 or 2 things i'd like someone to clear up. Using the Vray Sun i see adjusting the height gives different colours and brightness but what level is 0 based on? Is it 0 on the Z axis or is it the position of the target? Also (this might be linked to the above query) i've got a render setup but my sky seems way to dark for the settings i am using. (see attached pic) Cam: F stop 16 Shutter 100 ISO 350 Sun: multiplier:1 turbity:3 ozone:0.35 using HSV exponential, dark and bright multiplier of 1.0 Also any tips on how to brighten the shadows in the scene without adjusting these multipliers because it throws off my other areas. Many Thanks in advance Christiaan
