I went with 970. Its better. My recent model takes 3gb of vram so theres no stuttering with orbit and zooming out. Also its a bit faster, smoother in other programs. I think it was a good upgrade.
Thanks a lot!
I've done some research and figured out that there's no need to buy high end gpu for max.
I was considering k2200 vs gtx970 (cheaper choice) So I think I'll go with gtx 970 as my old 570's capacitors already started to squeak.
My models are around 30mln polys but sometimes starts to slow down even with 10mln.
I'm willing to spend more, but only if there will be significant improvment over gtx970.
Do you think its a good buy?
It depends, if you need to use pen for your work and not spending a lot of time rendering images then go with p40, but when you are more serious about 3d then XPS would be a better choice since it has better cpu, gpu and more ram.
Hello,
I'm currently using over dated gtx 570 for my work in 3ds max 2014. Its a bit slow in scenes with a lot of instances and editing high poly models (large architectural scenes). I also run HWmonitor to check actually how much utilization gpu has - max util is around 22%.
When i can im using proxies, but sometimes i have to change a bit in a model and then proxy is a pain ita.
I had also tried tial of 3ds 2016 - even worse in my situation.
Please share your experience in upgrading your gpu Geforce or Quadro.
Im interested only in viewport performance since im using corona for rendering purposes.
My setup:
cpu i7 3770k - 4.6ghz
32 ddr3 1333
gtx 570 1280mb
2ssd raid0
