  2. Oops, my bad, I've uploaded the fixed version to scriptspot, there show now be no error. Thanks!
  3. Version 0.45 has been released. This release of TeaCup is aimed at polishing up the interface and "completing" the material sharing system with a few features that where missing on the last release. Most notably you will see that the info panel at the bottom has been polished up: now it will display the description and comments together on the same box, and it's now easier to vote and comment. It's also now possible to edit and delete uploaded materials. Be right clicking an item on the search results, or the My Uploads list, you can enter the edit window and modify or remove the material from the database. Finally you will also see that search results now have two small numbers on the edges. The one in the top left is the material's rating, while the one on the bottom left displays the amount of times the material has been downloaded. 4. Thanks! =D You have registered and clicked the link in the confirmation email, right? TeaCup uses Google's App Engine, the ip is http://maxmatmanager.appspot.com If you keep having problems feel fry to drop me a line at my email. This is a bit of a work in progress right now, since we've JUST added the ranking and comments system. The idea is to try to have a self-moderating database, where the users can vote on the best/worst materials and this in turn can be used by the database to find the best matches. Right now you can vote, but other than the Top Materials list, it has little effect. I'm planning to have the search results display their ranking and comment count directly on the preview image for the next version.
  5. Yhea, I still need to do some proper work with the error messages, right now they require a bit of guesswork =p. Yap, it should work fine with any Max version after Max 9 SP1.
  6. Here's the link to a youtube video showing TeaCup in action:
  7. Any material supported by max should work. There's already several finalRender and a few Vray mats in there. I'm sure mental ray and brazil mats should work fine. Not so sure what would happen with Maxwell and Fry yet...
  8. +WHAT IS IT? TeaCup is a free online asset sharing platform for 3D Studio MAX, that is fully integrated with the program. It allows 3D Studio to connect to an online database giving you the ability to upload and download materials and objects directly from/to your scene very easily. The objective is to create a common pool of resources where everyone can contribute and everyone can benefit. Think Google Warehouse, but directly inside MAX. +WHAT CAN I DO WITH IT? It works like any of the dozens of webpages with downloadable content, but by being a part of the program it makes the process infinitely more streamlined. Once you've found a result you want, just double clicking it can import it into your scene, and uploading it's just a matter of selecting what you want to upload, everything else is taken care of automatically. Plus on this version we've added several "community tools" like a ratings and comments system. +HOW DOES IT WORK? After the installation has been completed, the first step will be to register an account from the Configuration panel. Once this is done you will get a confirmation email in the email you used for registration. After that you are all set. There are basically 4 sections in the TeaCup panel: SEARCH OPTIONS: At the top of the panel you will see all the controls used for searching the database. You can filter the results depending on your needs. SEARCH RESULTS: The big white box will display the search results after a search has been started. From here you can select any item and either apply it to your scene. Right clicking an item reveals some extra options. INFO PANEL: The bottom section displays info on the selected item in the search results. Using the buttons on the bottom right you can see the general info, the item details, or the comments and rating for the chosen item. NEWS & RANKING: The section on the left can be used to see the latest info on TeaCup, check the ranking, see the latest uploads, check your download history or quickly see the assets you have uploaded. +HOW DO I INSTALL IT? On this page you will find the TeaCup installer inside a rar file, after downloading and executing it, all you have to do is follow the instructions (make sure you choose the 3d Studio folder!). Once this is done, run 3d Studio and go to Customize>Customize User Interface. Now find the TeaCup category, and either add a button to a toolbar (in the Toolbars tab) or to create a keyboard shortcut (on the Keyboard tab). All done! +ANYTHING ELSE? Yes, TeaCup is still growing, so not everything is done. For instance sharing Meshes is not done yet. And you might find some bugs or things that just don't work like you'd expect. Feel free to comment here or email us at mbrunetta@gmail.com if that happens. And also, if you use the tool, make sure you share as much as you can! DOWNLOAD TEACUP
  9. TeaCup is a free online asset sharing system for 3D Studio MAX, that has the peculiarity of being fully integrated with the program. What this means is that you can upload and download materials and objects directly from/to your scene very easily. It works like any of the dozens of webpages with downloadable content (vraymaterials.de for instance), but by being a part of the program it makes the process several times more streamlined. Once you've found a result you want, just double clicking it can import it into your scene, and uploading it's just a matter of selecting what you want to upload, everything else is taken care of automatically. Hopefully as the script develops, so will the asset database, making our all jobs easier by giving us a collective pool of resources. QUICK-START GUIDE: 1- Create a TeaCup folder in your 3d Studio Scripts folder, and put the contents of the attached file there (it will not work otherwise). 2- Run the script. 3- You'r gonna need to register an account to use the script. Hit the configuration button and hit Create Account. Enter your info. An email will be sent to you promptly with a confirmation link. 4- Once your account has been activated, fill the email and password fields and hit the Save Changes button to close the configuration panel. 5- You are now ready to upload/download. CURRENT STATUS: This is the first public release of TeaCup. It's stable and robust enough to be usable, yet a lot of features are disabled and I'm certain there's a great deal of bugs roaming the code. Right now the script is only capable of sharing materials, but we intend to extend it so that also mesh objects can be shared. WE ARE STILL TRYING OUT SOLUTIONS AND MAKING CHANGES SO IT'S VERY POSSIBLE THAT WE MIGHT HAVE TO FLUSH THE DATABASE AND LOOSE EVERYTHING IN IT... YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. At this point we are mostly interested in finding bugs, and getting some ideas on how to extend the functionality and improve on the program. If you have something to comment on these points either post here or email me at mbrunetta@gmail.com DOWNLOAD: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/354766/TeaCup%200.3.rar NOTE: uses freeware libraries from http://www.chilkatsoft.com/aspx
  10. I would try the second on (the one I posted) since it's newer. Check the maxscript listener to see if any error shows up in there.
  11. That's odd, what script are you trying, and what error did you get?
  12. Scripts usually have very little compatibility issues so it's probable it will work. Just try it.
  13. Just one from what I understood from quickly browsing through the paper. Still the fact that it all done in real time is what's amazing. And besides these where just simple tech demos, it will probably look a lot better once it makes it's way to the art department.
  14. Here's another script that does something similar: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/material-converter-v0-98b
