  1. 1.Make sure you don't have overlapping planes. 2.Make sure you are using multiframe incrementals, As your object moves, the irradiance map needs to recalculate and add to map. 3. use High settings for animation for the irradiance map. Good Luck,
  2. Are you kidding me? thats the best laptop money can buy currently!
  3. Build it your own and safe lots of money or even build 2. Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 CPU with Fan_socket 775 279.99 1399.95 Asus Maximus Formula Motherboard(Intel X38 chip) 269.99 1349.95 NVIDIA Quadro FX1700 512MB PCI express 533 2665 Power up Black ATX Mid-Tower Case 39.99 199.95 Sony DRU 190A 20x DVD/CD rewritable 39.99 199.95 Harddrive Seagate Barracuda SATA 80GB 44.99 224.95 Corsair 4x1024 dual channel PC8500 1066mhz 289.99 1449.95 $1,497.94 per pc
  4. If you read this message, Get an ALIENWARE Area51 Laptop. Its a monster of Laptop. I have one, 2 years old, and Its still kicks ass. the new ones are even better. http://www.alienware.com/product_detail_pages/area-51_m15x/area-51m_overview.aspx?SysCode=PC-LT-AREA51M15X-AI1&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT Believe me, with your budget of $1900, you could get one, and you won't regret. Just to let you know, Dell bought the whole company 2 years ago, and decided to keep the whole company with its own image. Let me know how it goes. Regards,
  5. So I'm building 5 workstation based on these researched components: TOTAL 5 Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 CPU with Fan_socket 775 279.99 1399.95 5 Asus Maximus Formula Motherboard(Intel X38 chip) 269.99 1349.95 5 NVIDIA Quadro FX1700 512MB PCI express 533 2665 5 Power up Black ATX Mid-Tower Case 39.99 199.95 5 Sony DRU 190A 20x DVD/CD rewritable 39.99 199.95 5 Harddrive Seagate Barracuda SATA 80GB 44.99 224.95 5 Corsair 4x1024 dual channel PC8500 1066mhz 289.99 1449.95 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Total $7,489.70 $1,497.94 per pc The motherboard is based on what HP blackbird002 are using. I didn't go with the Core 2 Extreme since they are very expensive now, and I believe that would kill my budget. I already have a file server from dell, so all I need now is a few workstations for my employees. Let me know if you guys have some better suggestions in regards to hardware. Kind Regards,
  6. Wow Dan, thanks, I did as you advised and even one house renders superfast. However when I bring it in as a proxy, apply the material and try render it, the program crashes. And its only one house. I stumped on this problem and I don't see a way of fixing this. So now I did an STL check and I'm getting more than 1000 errors. Could this be the problem? The house was modeled in ADT2008 using AEC walls, windows and doors. and then linked to MAX. could this be the problem? I'm starting to think that I should model everything again into MAX with polys. there's 4 models, so this would mean like I need to go back to modeling and will delay me even further. Dan is there a chance you could look into my file to see what you can advise me on this? I have a deadline and I'm stuck at this. thanks in advance,
  7. I tried proxy the houses, but the houses looses all its textures. Is there any way around this?
  8. can you proxy a house? I thought only trees are proxyable. Is that how you manage all the houses on that lot?
  9. investing in render farm services is not a problem, we use respower.com But I can't even see how the image looks like on small rendering. So I can't work. However I'm thinking their might be something in my file that causes problem. I think I might have to troubleshoot the file. I don't think my computer is the problem. under the hood I have AMD Athlon 64 X Dual core Processor 2.01 Ghz with 4Gig of Ram I don't think my "under the hood" is the problem, but something in the file is not right.
  10. GI is currently ON, vray settings QMC 1, 2 Irradiance Map: Preset: Very Low -4, -3 HSph: 25 Interp. samples: 20
  11. I have a residential parcel with 30 houses, 4 different models on it, and the rendering times using Vray takes huge amount of time for a still frame 864x486. The parcel currently doesn't even have no cars, no trees. What would be the best approach to render this as an animation? use vray without GI, or use Scanline, or do it in passses? What about the big render? any proffesional advise is greatly appreciated. Kind Regards, Greg Lacle
  12. Nevermind, I found the solution for this. If someone needs the solution, just write me a message, and I will be happy to post. Regards,
  13. guys, I'm having some issues with my TGA multiframes when importing into AE. See Attached file. Can anyone tell me whats the proper technique to remove this issue? I'm using a different animated Sky, but as you can see, at the trees, you tend to notice the bright edges. Any proffesional advise is very much appreciated. Kind Regards,
  14. yes, 3dsmax9 recognizes the girders and ADT stuff.
