  1. John, I understand what your saying. I was referring to the cost of living as compared to the compensation in the area. the latter doet not give a true variance for the cost of living. For example: the salary for a 3D visualization artist is the same in Houston as it is in Washington dc but their is a huge different in the cost of living in these two places. Hence the freelance artist will charge accordingly but the employee's salary will remain the same. So if we are trying to compare rates between freelance and employees , then the compensation plan per region will not be accurate and in reality, be a mere statistic unless augmented with data concerning cost of living.
  2. Looks Good. Again it might be warranted to introduce a variance for the cost of living in the country the artist is in. For example an artist in the states can charge $500.00 per rendering but one in India.. etc. can charge less($200.00) because the cost of living is lower. So whether it is freelance or a regular job, the cost per rendering should be compared to cost of living. As the cost of living determines what we charge and also why people settle for a regular job.

  4. Yes, i make it a habit to observe real world lighting, color, shadows. I am still learning and not as good as some of the others here but its helped me graduate to a higher level of realism and emotional content. You see once you see in your head exactly what you want to see then you go about the rendering and post rendering process to bring that into reality.
  5. Thanks a lot ! Yeah the space is very tiny and my camera could not get the entire entrance view so I increased the vertical FOV and Horizontal FOV separately, hence the distorted view. I did not know any other way. Your probably right about the size difference.I'll have to recheck the model..

  8. I like it! Being an architect I would hire you and would recommend you. Rendering has the potential to take design to another level to the 4th dimension of design. Your image gives a sense of place, captures the moment and moves beyond just doing a photo real image. Congrats! You have inspired me!
  9. I think its the view, Its in a historic district so I could not add landscaping or any other artifact for that matter in any way or form to spice it up. Its was very quick work though, modelling and rendering in under 2 hrs.

  11. Usman87, you are doing well. Keep at it and you will be even better than anyone who critiques your work! Keep practicing and promise yourself you'll make rac2181 eat his words. From Wright to Gehry, they all have many works like your rendering above. Those who work hard will overcome even the most talented. Good Job and see you soon at the top.
