  1. Thanks alex you have been a great help it is much appreciated, I have 32gb in both my main workstation and the slaves so I should hopefully be ok in terms of memory but I'll find out as I do more work with it all
  2. Thanks for the replies they have been a great help, I'm currently refreshing my whole setup and originally was going to build a separate huge workstation with 4 GPUs and dual Xeon's but now that it has been confirmed that I can do network gpu rendering I'm going to build a smaller M-atx workstation machine with dual 970 gtx or a 980ti and then have two older Hp z600 render nodes with a Tesla 6GB M2090 card in each. Hopefully this will be enough for some quick render times on a reasonable budget.
  3. Hi, I was hoping some of you could tell me if vray rt distributed rendering allows you to utilize multiple gpu's over multiple render node machines in the same way as distributed rendering works for using cpu's across multiple machines. I've been trying to research this but have not found any definitive answer I see that vray rt allows distributed rendering but do not know if this is limited to only using cpu's across the network. Many thanks in advance
  4. yeah I think it was defective when I purchased it I think that its gonna cost me more hassle than its worth to repair it as I got it for around 50 GBP so to get it repaired is probably not going to be worth the cost or hassle, I'm going to open a case with the seller and see what happens
  5. it was bought off ebay about a month ago so I dont know if xrite will be able to do anything Im gonna have to take it up with the seller and hope I can get a refund thanks again for your help
  6. Hey guys sorry for the time taken for me to get back to you, I have tried the i1 display on another LCD screen and also on a laptop both with the same problem no matter what my rgb values the white point value is around 1500k ive tried both presets and rgb controls and neither make any difference, the luminance issue is still there also. I ran a diagnostics check on the actual colorimeter and it passed everything was fine so I am at a loss I dont know what to do, does anyone have any ideas am I loking at a broken i1 display ? my displays are only a few years old so I am pretty sure they are fine and not the problem as they are high end Benq FP241w's many thanks again guys
  7. Hi there, I have recently bought an i1 display2 to calibrate my Benq FP241W LCD's but when I try and calibrate them using imatch 3 software the white point is incredibly low around 1500k and my luminance is nowhere near the 120cd/m I set it at even if I set the brightness on my OSD to 100. I am aiming for a profile with 6500k white point 2.2 gamma 120cd/m luminance My system specs are Windows 7 64bit OS Nvidia GTX 285 with latest drivers dual monitor setup consisting of two Benq FP241W I dont know what im doing wrong but anyones help would be much appreciated Please help me this is drving me insane
  8. Hi there, I have just calibrated my Benq FP241W with an ICC profile for the first time and it has worked very well with the monitor now producing more natural colours. The issue I am having is that when windows loads the ICC profile on startup the mouse pointer colour remains too bright. Is there a way to fix this or is this just what happens when you calibrate your monitor. Any help or advice you can give would be much appreciatd
  9. Hi there I am currently a student in Scotland at the University of Dundee and I am going into my final year. I am preparing my thesis proposal which will be a discussion on the role of new technology ie. parametric modelling etc and its effects on the design of modern architecture. If anyone has any good references that could be of interest to this subject could you please post ie. books, websites etc I have looked at amazon and I am considering purchasing some of these books to help my research if any of you have these books or have read them I would greatly appreciate any comments on the book and the relevance you think these might have to my proposal.
