  1. Hey, I've been looking for a concise vid tut for the render settings for animations for a while now with little success. I'm using Max 2019 and Vray Next. There used to be loads of resource on this but the only ones I can find are from 3-4 yrs ago. Nothing fancy, just a moving camera. I'd be mighty grateful if someone could forward me a link, mucho thanks.
  2. Hi Tom, well that sounds it could very well be the issue, it did seem very virussy. Thanks for such a comprehensive reply. I've got plenty of time to go through all the data your link leads to so I 'll have a thorough read. Thanks again.
  3. Hey fellas, I think I've found the cause of for my strange renders. Over the weekend I had my computer flattened to see if that helped. Yesterday I needed to convert some materials from Corona to Vray materials so I installed a trial Corona, (oh! the irony), and imported the relevant geometry so I could convert. My renders IMMEDIATELY started to go wrong as they had previously. In the past I remember getting a 'Scene Convertor' window pop up asking me which renderer I wanted to convert my scene to? There is an option to choose Vray, which I did then I closed the window down though I never understood why this window appeared in the first place. After this window was closed down the weird renders started to happen though I'd, stupidly, never made the connection because it always seemed a legitimate 3D Max window. Anyway, the short of it is, it looks like messing around in anyway with my renderer triggers a bug in my genuine licence software. I've no idea why I'd be getting this Scene Convertor window all of a sudden, if anyone has an idea why I'd love to know. but it seems that might've been the cause. I'd like to thank you for your advice. Cheers
  4. Hi Akshay, Have you got an email I can send a WeTransfer to? The allowable attach extensions don't include Max or Zip files, although the site says they can, I can't get them to upload.

  6. Hey Francisco, just an update on my re-appearing weird rendering issue. These are two images from my current project, one a screen grab and one a render. I reinstalled Vray and the problem stopped though now it's back. Just thought you'd like to visibly see the issue. It actually looks like it's rendering an earlier image, there's no materials or foliage. Thanks
  7. The perspective exposure now works thanks to you! thanks fella. How the hell did you learn that, I never even knew that section was there? Also I think my background issue was partly caused by having and HDRi in the Environment Background channel and then copied as a 'copy' to a dome light for the Gi so I could make changes to either individually. I'm sure I've done that before but I couldn't get them to work independent of each other this time. I was on for an hour trying everything but to no avail. To get a work around, I loaded a jpeg of the HDRi in the Environment channel, kept the HDRi in the Dome light but made it invisible. Thanks again, big big help. Jez
  8. Hi, so it's in the title really, I'm using a Vray Physical Camera, of which I've set all the relevant settings, and I've got my lighting just right. Then when I go to a perspective view the lighting is massively increased and burns out the scene. On a side point, through my camera render I can't see my environment sky through glass though in the burnt out perspective render I can, though this render is unusable obviously. Any thoughts? Thanks.
  9. Nice one, thanks very much. Most of what you do I also do as standard but you've mentioned a few things I hadn't considered so I'll look into them. I am actually using targets so that might be something, and the drivers could be an issue. Hows the weather in Cali?
  10. Hi, In every job I'm working on, there comes a point at render time when the renders are of any bloody angle from my interior model as Max/Vray so chooses. But not even a proper view, sometimes there's walls missing, sometimes there's no geometry at all, sometimes it's a mile away from where the camera should be, sometimes it's actually moved objects out of the scene completely, sometimes there's only a road remaining where there should be a whole housing estate in the render. If I start a new Max file and merge all, everything's fine but having to do it ten times a project is becoming tiresome. Any advice would help, thanks.
  11. Hi, I have three objects in a 3D Max animation linked together through Linked Constraints. It's a lorry carrying two shipping containers. The lorry is the parent and shipping containers are the children. I want the lorry to disappear but not the shipping containers. Trouble is, they're linked so my visibility track is effecting all three objects. So... how do I unlink the objects in the Dope Sheet, thanks if you can help.
  12. Thanks Nazim but I was after a reason why this was happening rather than a way around it.
  13. Hi, please take a look at the image attached, this is a problem I get from time to time. I'm using standard spot lights with Vray Shadows, as I have a million times in the past with no problems, but inexplicably they start to cast this grey effect on the geometry the stronger I make them. I'm not doing anything different with my light setup than usual. Normally, to get over this, I have to merge the scene into a fresh file without the lighting, then relight the scene but this isn't working this time. I'm not really looking for an alternative method of lighting, but a reason for this to be happening. It seems fine up to a point, then the lighting just gets screwed. Thanks for any help. The spotlights are set to 25.0 multiplier with decay. Dome light set at 2
