  1. If I understand you correctly, I think the Shell modifier with a custom bevel profile would do the trick.
  2. We only have one node, though, directly connected to the server that houses the scene, textures and GI solutions. Maybe a problem with dumping the previous frame's information? I really don't know enough about BB + V-Ray to know if an IMap, LCache and textures stay in memory for the whole sequence, or get loaded/unloaded after every frame. I looked at the task manager while it rendered, the node was using 5/32GB of RAM, so I can't imagine it was needing to load/unload geometry or maps. I just checked Monitor and everything rendered, eventually. Had the same random ballooning of render times for the second camera path, but only every 5th or 6th frame or so. Frames look good, for draft quality. I appreciate the input guys.
  3. Frames look good, that's why I'm not sweating too much. I think I've got enough time tomorrow to compile everything as long as the other cameras render OK. I wonder if the size of the IMap + LCache has anything to do with it? There's 32GB of RAM in that machine-I would think enough to handle the textures, proxies, etc...
  4. I'm pretty much out of time to solve this issue before my deadline, but has anyone ever had render times for an animation frame skyrocket for no reason? I'm lost on this one. Facts: Precalc'd IMap Precalc'd LCache Single Rendernode very draft-level render settings Like I said, I can't do much about this before Monday, just a frustrating issue.
  5. Geeze, I glossed right over the uninstall instructions, skipped right to the features and stability fixes this time. I'll give this a shot, really appreciate the help guys. Hopefully it resolves the DR issue. -Matt
  6. I've gone an done it. I installed SP3 in the middle of a deadline, now my Distributed Rendering has gone down. The only thing I've changed (that I can think of) in my setup was installing the Service Pack. Does anyone have experience uninstalling service packs? Is that even possible, or do I need to uninstall 3ds max and be choosy about the service packs I install? The curious thing is my backburner jobs still work. Using V-Ray 2.50.01. Appreciate the help.
  7. I think it was promenadd: http://www.promenadd.com/en/
  8. Try reset XForm after you combine the meshes.
  9. A material is only applied to a phase if your Phase Filter is set to override New, Existing or Demolished building elements. In Revit, check to see what your Phase Filter is set to, under the View Properties for the 3D view you're linking to 3ds Max. Then check to see what the settings are for that Phase Filter. I just started a default project, went to a 3D view and the Filter setting is Show Previous + New. The settings for Existing are set to Overriden...change that to By Category.
  10. Phil, I would make sure you don't have a graphic overrides enabled. If a category is set to override, then the next tab over controls how the object is displayed and what material is used. Hope this helps.
  11. Looks like the scene or model might be out of scale. Too small to zoom into? Might check system units settings, or the distance between the model and 0,0,0. Just some starting points....
  12. ...1999 called, they want their Halloween back.
  13. Oh, whoops. Sorry about the misinformation. It's honestly been so long since I've been able to use V-Ray on a daily basis, my techniques are a bit dated. Juraj-Looking forward to the post. ***edit: Here's a link to his more up-to-date workflow. http://www.peterguthrie.net/blog/2012/02/hdri-lighting-workflow/
  14. Try out Peter Guthrie's blog. This is a pretty common approach, combining V-Ray Sun and HDRI. http://www.peterguthrie.net/blog/2010/04/vraysun-and-hdri-sky-tutorial/
