  1. I should have explained it a little better. I know about the "Visible to Camera" checkbox and it's gets the first part of the job done. But I need the elements to show the reflections and refractions coming from the actual object I'm hiding, not the reflection of the object in other objects.
  2. With Vray, I'm looking for a way to make an object invisible to the camera, but I still want the RawRefraction and RawReflection render elements to display their respective information for the object. Does anyone know if this is possible? In the past I've been having to rendering the image once to get the RGB element without glass visible and then render again to get the correct reflection and refraction elements. The whole point of this is to be able to use the extraTex element for AO and only have to render once.
  3. When I'm logged into the forums, I can see the gray box for attached images but not the actual link to look at the image. But if I log out I can see the link, but if I click it, I'm told I need to log in to see it. Is there a way to fix this? I'm using Chrome
  4. One thing that has always bothered me about mental ray area lights is that the edge of the light emitted is always perfectly hard edged. This is not very realistic. Is there a way to make the edge softer similar to area lights in vray? Like this.
  5. Thanks for the advice guys. I worked on the contrast to look more like the photo and I did some alternate lighting renders. Once again these are just tests with low sample settings. I'm not sure about the fog yet but it was fun to play with. And don't worry, I still plan on fixing the curtains. What do you think? 6. Yep, there it is. Thanks for the help guys! Still not sure why it wasn't in the tools menu by default, oh well.
  7. Was the vray light lister moved? It used to be right under the regular light lister in the tools menu. Or am I completely blind? I'm using Vray 2.10.01 with 3ds max 2012 64bit
  8. Studio/Institution: practice Genre: Residential Interior Software: 3Ds Max, Vray Description: I'm currently working on a project to reproduce this IKEA catalog image. It's going pretty well so far but I still feel like its missing something in terms of composition. What do you guys think? 9. Studio/Institution: Personal Project Genre: Residential Interior Software: 3ds Max, Vray, Photoshop Description: Did this as a modeling and lighting & texturing exercise. I wanted to make an entertainment room. This is probably the most realistic interior render I've made and I like how it turned out. What do you guys think?
