I have emailed them 3 times with no response. Does anyone know if they are out of business?

I have been a member since 2000 and have found it to be somewhat helpful but could defintely use a boost. Count me in for whatever is necessary.

SU>Max Workflow... (We use it almost exculsively for ArchVis) Go get Accutrans3D (http://www.micromouse.ca) shareware. Export the model from SU by mat to 3ds. Open the 3ds in AT. Use the merge objects by material under tools. Converts all objects to one by mat. Re-weld verts and save the 3ds again. This will import with instanced/referenced mats into Max. The only downside is if one of your merges has more than 32,767 verts, the max one objets can have in 3ds, dxf or dwg. Good luck.

Get in contact with LGM (Laser Graphic Manufacturing) www.lgmmodel.com Here is a sample at 4'x4' of a model we had output directly from a 3D file to a Z-Core machine (ceramic) for the buildings and the base was CNC'd into resin.

I think SketchUp is flat out the easiest method for creating complex roof shapes. In fact all of your modeling could be done in SU. Checkout the demo and see. I have almost converted all of my modeling tasks from AutoCad/Max into SU due to ease and precise control unlike max.
