  1. Client has a 3d model in Vectorworks Does anyone know a good method to go from Vectorworks to 3ds Max, preferably with layers or material assignments intact? He tried sending a 3d dwg but it was an absolute mess and no 3d elements came in.
  2. I'm getting BSOD's (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) on Windows 10 after I close Max too (both 2015 and 2017), come to think of it I installed Forest Pack around the time they began. Gonna uninstall and test to see if they go away EDIT: tentatively, upgrading to the latest beta (Jan 29, 2017) seems to work. Have done some renders and closed Max and reopened and done other stuff on the PC and closed. No BSOD's so far
  3. What do V-ray have in the pipeline? I don't *recall* seeing Vlado or anyone mention anything in that regard, at least on the forums
  4. Is there an easy way to do this? I don't want to load ALL toolbars from my old version, only my single custom one. After spending half an hour making sure all my scripts are there (after copy-pasting of the scripts and usermacros folders in C:\Users\Richard\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\201 5 - 64bit\ENU\ to the 2017 equivalent), getting the damn toolbar is proving the hardest part of migrating to Max 2017! The main issue is that saving a .ciux file from Customise User Interface>Toolbars in 2015 and loading it in 2017 also replaces all the default Max icons with the old ones, which I don't want. I just want my one custom toolbar. I *could* just re-create it from scratch but it'd be convenient if there is a way to import it. Any ideas?
  5. 1. People in windows 2. Lights in windows aren't going to be visible with the level the rest of the image is exposed at unless it's a dark day/hour Those are my two main peeves Also agree with trying to show everything at once. Fine, if it's going to be viewed on a canopy with three projectors. Not so much if you need to see it at 16:9 ratio on a monitor or paper without crazy distortion.
  6. Hes wanting to know what's wrong with his 3d grass in the first place though. But yeah some pics would help
  7. Turn off displacement as a test; typically that is the cause of light cache issues. If that fixes it, look for any huge displacement textures or high displacement settings (either in V-ray displacement mods, or the global vray displacement settings) What have you got in the scene that makes it 1GB in size? I think even for scenes where I've had a building and a couple of the individual apartment rooms fully detailed, it's not more than a few dozen to 100 MB.
  8. You'd come across as more reputable if you just cheerily plugged your service honestly, instead of creating fake accounts to talk to yourself. Attempted deception won't make people want to use your service!
  9. I'd be interested to know the reasons for this; post in the problems section on the Chaos forums?
  10. I'd like to know this also, though I imagine it's hard-coded Has always seemed archaic how inflexible Max is with entering multiple values at the same time (in many parts of the interface)
  11. Ah, found it. I needed to tick the option to include "hatches" in the DWG import dialog box.
  12. Hopefully just a setting somewhere, but observe how the lines depicting the wood cladding are missing? as viewed in Autodesk DWG Trueview: imported into Max 2015 Any help would be great! Cheers
  13. I am in the process of trying to organise a drone to try this actually. My results with Memento thus far have been less than stellar using backyard methods however: Note the mutant growth on the side of the seal statuette. The photos I took looked pretty good I thought so not sure what happened, one side came out okay!
  14. Cool, that's where I was headed. How does it work with V-ray cameras do you know, as I'm on Max 2015 (or are you using Max 2016 with its V-ray compatible default camera)
  15. There is also this http://www.viz-people.com/shop/3d-mall-equipment/ from Viz People, but they for whatever reason merged everything in the mall sets into one object which makes it very difficult to move things about, especially as references, so they are hard to recommend.
