  1. This has always been a pain in the @$$ for me. The solution I utilize is to set the exposure/power of the HDRI really low. (for example .002) This will bring down the intensity of the HDRI without effecting the Gamma as stated above.
  2. Unless you're utilizing Vray GPU/RT or whatever their calling it now FULL TIME you'll still need the thread-count for quick renders. So Go threadripper. Personally my next build will be an AMD build. They just released a 32 Core 64 Thread Version.. Cant wait to see it in action.
  3. Seriously though. A few months ago I was talking so much trash about Sketch-up and Lumion; Well not really trashing the software itself but how "professionals" in the industry see these software packages as "replacements" for 3D Max and Vray. Anyhow, fast forward a few months and I find myself working for a firm that almost exclusively utilizes Sketch-up and Lumion to produce their Viz content..... and I'm the new Visualization Specialist...... utilizing those to exact packages that I was talking so much trash about........ Karma wins again and the Universe is teaching me a lesson. *Sigh*
  4. Upon doing some reading and research I came across an Image and noticed that they seemed to have copied an Evermotion image that was produced in Max/Vray. Left Image is Lumion, Right Image is Evermotions
  5. Hey all; Have a question for ya'll. I'm a 3DMax/Vray Veteran and recently took on a Specialist roll at a firm that wants to push their rendering capabilities to "the next level". Unfortunately they're currently utilizing Sketch-up as their main design tool, and Lumion as their primary render. So far, the quality that i'm getting out of these two apps are not to the level I expect. I'm pushing them pretty hard; loading up higher quality textures, maxing out settings, ect. but to no avail. Anyone have an recommendations as to how I can improve my output while keeping their existing workflow? Or should I bite the bullet and push them into Vray/Max/ Unreal? A big issue I keep hearing is "Lumion can put out x images in x LESS time, over vray." (this is from forums), but Knowing Vray like I do; its not impossible to get great quality images with low render times that are comparable.. Anyhow #LookingForAFriend. -Nolan
  6. So this seems to be a common occurrence as of late, so I figured I'd ask how all of you describe what we do (3D Visualization) to someone who A.) Has no idea what Visualization/ 3D Rendering is. and B.) is unfamiliar with our Industry? I tend to just show people 3D Work and then say, "That is not a photograph."
  7. If you want to create art; you need to understand and learn the tools needed to create that art.
  8. Nice; good to know. My rig is due for an update and Threadripper makes me want to switch to an AMD chipset.
  9. Is anyone going to be in Vegas for AU?
  10. Right Click on the object; select "Vray Options", make sure the object is NOT matted and its alpha contribution is set to 1.0
  11. 2600 Samples for LC is way to high. I've never kicked it past 1200. Properly balanced Samples for lighting and materials will help keep images looking clean and render times down. Step in Increments of (x2) starting at 32 (IE: 32, 64, 128) Interior Images hardly ever need Antialiasing, so I keep it off. Global DMC set at 64 Min Samples Irradiance Map in the GI Set to Med. Preset I use these settings as my base. Render times are pretty quick for even large scenes at 1920x1080.
  12. Could be your gamma is set to 1.0 when saving out the JPEG. Happens to me on occasion.
  13. Hey David; As far as I can tell (because I never really use the Image sampler, due to subdivision balancing.) The Adaptive DMC was moved and renamed to "Global DMC" under the Bucked Image Sampler. (i'm currently using Vray 3.4 but if i recall correctly this was changed in 3.2)
  14. Hey Guys; Having a hell of a time trying to trouble shoot a glass material Issue... (which is kind of embarrassing to be honest...) Anyhow.. It seems after layering 2 panes of glass I get this weird Blue color, where the planes meet up. See attached Images... Any Ideas?
