  1. Ok guys thanks for ur advice. Finally I have bought 3960X for 214$.
  2. I stuck with the i7 3820 with Asus P9X79 PRO 2011 I want to make a quick move with the change of the processor as a reasonable price. So my choice is very limited to what I can put the 2011 socket. 3930K, 3970X or one of IvyB 4930K-4960X. 4960X is still quite expensive, and I do not have enough money right now to change all guts. That is why 3970X comes to my mind as a kind of fast upgrade, or wait for 4960X goes down with price. 3960X is avalible for exactly 250$ I could spend right now about 400$, cant find 4960x in this range.
  3. Hello, I have read a lot of articles comparing 3970x to 3930k, and still do not know what to choose. How much more efficient is 3970 compared to 3930k, for almost two times higher price. From what I know 3970X has better OC, but it is also less energy efficient and needs a powerful cooling system.
  4. i7-4770 3.40 Ghz, GB Z87X-D3H-CF, 16 GB RAM - SSD disk, win 7, 3ds 2016, vray 3.40 i7-3820 3.6 Ghz, ASUS P9X79 PRO, 16 GB RAM - HDD disk, win 7, 3ds 2016 vray 3.20 That's all i know. Now i need to do some ram test, after runing CPU-Z software and move to SPD memory slot section my PC freezes..
  5. Hello I need some advice about CPU. I have compared my home PC (P9X79 PRO with i7 3820) with the CPU from my work -i7 4770K and results killed me. It seem that 4770 is about 30 time faster than 3820.. - is that even possible???!! So i decided to buy new CPU for my old 2011 socket, that's.. narrows the choice to: 3930K, 3960X or 4930K, 4960X. The question is, how much faster 4930k is from 3930k? is it worth to pay twice the price of 3930k?

    Render quality

Hello I have noticed that all my renders extremely losing quality during compression to jpg in Photoshop. They become more bluried.. and after puting them to web they look just terrible. I save renders always as TGA files, then after opening them in Photoshop and comparing to VFB raw render they looks almost identical, so its ok on that stage. Then put some sharpen filter and I am quite happy from what I see on the screen - renders look clean and sharp as they should be. But.. after saving them as jpg and opening outside of photoshop they lose a lot from they sharpness. I know that jpg is a low quality format, but I have seen a lots of renders saved as jpg and they still have remained sharp. So where is the problem..?
  7. Hello, I am fighting with 3ds max and autocad... My goal is to open object from 3ds max in autocad3d and then flatten it to 2d drawing or image. - whatever.. Unfortunately, this is more difficult than I thought... I have opened 3d object from 3ds in autocad3D. - But Flatshot option doesn't work.. and autocad is giving me into that.. "_flatshot There are no solids or surfaces that can be projected." flatshot option doesn't work even if I am trying flatten simple box from 3ds max. so.. is there a way, that autocad will start to recognize 3d object form 3ds max as his own..
  8. Hello, I would like to ask if Gigabyte GTX670 OC 2GB-256bit DDR5 will be enough for interiors RT renders? like Vray RT, or it will work fine only with active shader preview? Next question is about OC cards, i read somewhere that they are very unstable during rendering - is that true?, and if I put Non-Reference cooler will it help to get card more stable ?
  9. yes, exactly as you said, I need it to make some test wth the sun positions - generally with the lights in the scene, it's always faster if you do it in real time than waiting as long as light cache will give me some idea of how it looks. Also to make some tests with the colour palette in the scene and materials - spectaculars, glossiness and so on. Actually I didn't even counting that i might render all scene by GPU (it is even possible.. to get the same quality by GPU than CPU..) for sure not by using something like GTX 560 TI. About the resolutions I don't know... i have no experience with GPU so I have no idea what I can afford. When I use CPU for the test renders i use half resolution of the final scene (to check lighting and GI quality), when I test materials i go even lower to reduce time. - or render some regions, so typical final scene is A3 200dpi so we talking about something like 3400x2400 pix.
  10. Hello, I was wondering what would be better for fast render preview, GF 560 TI and use it 768 CUDA Cores or put more ram for light cache. I never used GPU for rendering that's why my knowledge about it is almost none.. and I am not sure if game card as GF will do, or it will burn... because of the temperature. http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-650ti/specifications Pro cards are to expensive but at least they are stable and they don't take 300W.. my hardware - i7-3820, Asus P9X79, 16 Gb ram What would be better choice?
  11. I allways render using BF but not this time.. so.. rendering from saved irradiance map? If I remember correctly when I want increase size of render twice i need to decrease setting of irradiance map also twice? In short: rendering in 500x1000 pix (min:-3, max -2) changing form saved map - rendering 1000x2000 pix (min-4, max -3) - then I shouldnt loose quality right? can I mix something in LC settings or it must stay as it was?
  12. ok thx Andy, it is what I have been looking for.
  13. hello all, I heard that vray 3.0 have posibility to render side view with vray phisic cam setup. I need to render side view - elevation, without any perspective Distortions. Do vray 2.0 also have that kind of capabilities? if so how to setup it.
  14. Hello, I made simple test - 2 balls - both have the same material only difference is in diffuse color. blue/black After rendered, on specular pass I have highlights only on the ball with black diffuse color. Why???
  15. Which version of 3ds max is the least stable? I have a 2012 and a lot of problems with it since during the rendering power in my house goes down .. anyway it's working terrible. Opening even simple project takes 5 min, and opening material edytor where some vraysky or hdri is set in materials slots takes even more time. Maybe somehow setting have been changed in 3ds... How about disc space 12 GB on system partition under WIN 7 is good enought? i7-3820, ASUS P9X79 PRO 16GB RAM and some shity graphic card - radeon 4650. best regards
