  1. I haven't used it yet, but I came across this Window and Door Generator on an FB group. https://archviztools.gumroad.com/
  2. Hi Everyone, I'm currently based in Toronto, and in between jobs. I'm looking for opportunities in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, NewFoundland, and P.E.I. I'm searching for Arch-viz studios and Architectural firms to apply to, and would really appreciate any names. So far I've got the Nova Scotia Association of Architects list, and a few more names from Google, but I'd really like to apply to visualisation studios as well. I hope this is within the forum rules, mods please make an exception for this, I'm in a bind here. Thank you, Vinay
  3. Thank you for your post Philippe! Apologies for the delayed reply.
  4. Hi everyone, I am a 3D visualiser based in India. One of the options I'm exploring, is to move to Canada to pursue a 1 year course in something useful and relevant, and then apply for the PGWPP . I am looking at courses in Architectural Drafting and CADD, since that is a missing link in the daisy chain for me, I'm quite lacking in that department. 6 years in Video game asset making has made me comfortable with modeling. I have already attended the State of Art Academy Masterclass few years ago, so I dont need any more training in lighting rendering and post [only need to practice more!] Here's where I need your help... I've been searching for 1 year programs in Architectural CADD, and so far most of them I've found are private colleges, places with some good and some really bad reviews. Like so... http://brightoncollege.com/programs/architectural-design-and-building-technician-diploma/ http://www.digitalschool.ca/programs/architectural-cad-technician/ What I"m interesting in, is some place with a bit more.... gravitas? Like public universities, e.g. BCIT has a 1 year course. https://www.bcit.ca/study/programs/1720certts I dont think I have the financial means to fund any 2 year program. My google searches are just all over the place. Believe me, I'm trying. Could you please suggest a few names in your replies, a college or university with ~1 year courses in Architectural CADD or something similar? Thank you in advance!
  5. Thank you for your reply, Nikolaos! Its unlikely that I'll overclock the processor, because its very hot around here and Air conditioning is used occasionally. But the rest of the post is something I'll definitely keep in mind.
  6. Hi Guys, Long time lurker, first time poster here! My current configuration is Intel i7 960, 6 GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 460, and a standard non SSD hard drive, circa 2010. Was used for a couple of Freelance projects in the past, but from now on, most likely for learning and personal portfolio work only. Runs fine most of the time but bogs down when handling large scenes. Also, there's heavy page file shifting going on sometimes, with the hard drive churning for minutes. A couple of questions... How many of you have upgraded from an Intel i7 9xx series to something more current? Like the present day i7 processor? Was the difference night and day, or can the old one hold its own? And how many of you have added RAM to your current i7 9xx rig to keep it going? The reason I'm asking is that I have the opportunity to up my RAM from the current 6 GB to the maximum allowed 24 GB on my motherboard. And maybe an SSD. Will this add a couple of years longevity to my pc, or should I just let this machine work away just the way it is, and then maybe buy a new one? New workstation won't happen for atleast a year so wondering if it's worth spending 200 odd dollars on RAM and SSD. Renders are usually started when I am not at my desk, i.e overnight while sleeping or when I leave for work. So CPU power is not a priority, but handling heavy scenes is important. Sorry if it sounds like a silly question, I dont have the opportunity to try out a current high end PC, and I cant gauge if my current PC will be able to handle the Softwares of the future. The money saved by NOT buying a new PC could go a long way in funding my future camera purchase. Does it make sense to prop up a 5 year old PC? Or let it die a natural death? Thank you.
  7. Hi everyone, My name's Vinay, I'm 34 and a 3D artist currently living in Pune, India. I have a background in a bit of publishing, a lot of game asset creation and recently, Arch-viz. I was working in an Arch-viz studio but now I am freelancing. My interests include Architecture, Motorcycles, High end Audio, General Knowledge, Apollo era aviation and spaceflight, Jeopardy style trivia among other little nerdy things. Been a read-only member for the longest time because of the steep learning curve, I really didnt have much of value to offer to some of the fantastic threads in the past year or more. I did post a thread in the "General discussions" section to ask about a school in Barcelona that piqued my interest. But unfortunately, it stays buried under "Moderator approval". Strange thing is I cant even contact the Moderator to follow up on it. Any assistance in this regard would be most appreciated. I was thinking about mailing the big man himself, Mr. Jeff Mottle but I really didnt want to bother him, thought I'd post here first. Love this place, love the website overall. Shift + Q everyone, and Happy Holidays. Cheers, Vinay
  8. Hi Everyone, I am a 3D artist with around 6 years of gaming experience, and a little over 2 yeas in Arch-viz. If I have to rate myself on various steps in the pipeline, Id say I'm good at some things [Poly Modeling, geometry/texture optimisation, a general understanding of 3D] OK at some things [Lighting/ Troubleshoot rendering issues] and rubbish at some I've been looking at courses that are sort of intensive, full time, a "Masterclass" if you will. A sort of structured course that would guide me to even out the flat spots. Not just for the training, but the overall experience, traveling, networking etc. I recently came across this, but cant find much chatter on forums, about them. http://www.barcelona3dschool.com/master/architecture-3dstudio-max-v-ray-maxwell-render/ Can anyone here give me any feedback? Do you know anyone who went to this place? I was also looking at the Masterclass offered by State Of Art Academy, San Dona de Piave, Italy. But all courses for 2014 are booked. Thanks in advance!
