  1. No good reason other than I don't know what I'm doing in regards to those things...
  2. Good Morning All! I am working on a 3D Panorama for Oculus in V-Ray and while that's all fancy and well, I am having what I believe to be some very basic problems with a french door's glass reflection. As you can see from the attached files, there is a weird point where the reflections follow a curved path and provide and mirror like reflection of the inside. You can also see distortion that creates a visible gap between the windows mullions that simply is not that big. The window is a single cube (not a plane but a 3D object)...I am using a falloff for the reflection map and you can see all my settings. I am sure this is some stupid facepalm moment when someone points out an obvious error, but for the life of me I cannot seem to solve it...I have spent way too long trying to resolve it and now it's time to ask the forum Please help! Thank you so much
  3. Haha..if I got to the trouble of applying model materials, then I may as well just apply the actual materials But all wood on a black field aint bad...
  4. I often find myself doing clay model renders for clients because they don't want to pay for a fully materialed one. But I am getting bored with my methods of presenting them. I generally put them on a grass field with a PP sky but I want something more...I would love to see examples of what you all do with a clay model!
  5. Ok...so getting a little off topic, I have a shooting questions regarding the maps...how does one not get their feet/tripod in a photo when shooting the ground? A lot of these spherical images/sIBL's have a complete 3 axis set with no feet in the way! I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I've never shot one of these before, and I don't want to shoot a jobsite, just to get it back to the office and have my size 10's in the way. Thanks
  6. Ok...so this is what I am talking about...so it is necessary to use 32 bit images? Regardless, I've downloaded hugin...so I thank you for that advice. Why does it have to be 32 bit?
  7. Of course, couldn't you create the HDRs from your bracketed shots, and then stitch the HDRs together?
  8. I use photoshop CS5 for my HDR and stitching needs...I want to use the HDRI in vray for 3ds max
  9. I'm sorry, I was not clear in my questions. I have extensive experience with both stitching and creating HDR images. What I am unclear on is what settings are best to export? Are there any traps I need to avoid? Image mode/format? Thank you And I suppose I am asking, is it really so simple as making a panorama of HDRs?
  10. Surely it can't be that difficult as to need a book! Is it not just lacing images together in a panorama?
  11. I want to shoot and make my own HDRI environment maps for use with vray and max but I am having a hell of a time finding information on the web... Does anyone know of a good tutorial on how to create HDRI maps? Thanks I prefer written tutorials over video but I'll take anything and I am using spherical mapping
  12. Ed you just crashed my max...
  13. SOLVED: It's amazing what coffee can do http://www.workshop.mintviz.com/tutorials/hdri-exterior-lighting-with-vray/
  14. I am literally banging my head on the desk trying to figure out how to rotate my HDRI environment maps. I have the map applied to a VRAY dome light for illumination as well as having it in the environment slot of MAX (I'm working in 3ds Max by the way.) The MAP's horiz. rotation slider is greyed out. I've tried wire rotation of the light and nothing seems to be working. I have also tried screwing with the U offset...nothing. I just need the damn scene rotated 180 degrees...this should not be hard Thank you
  15. It is happening in the beginning of the action. When I came in this morning, it was stuck on "unloading geometry." This is not to say that it hadn't spent all night doing the initial passes, it was just where it happened to be when I stopped it. But it did seem to be stuck. And of course, unloading geometry is like the first step...so... I'll try lowering my subdivisions and see what happens...currently it is set at 256 (which seems low to me.)
