  1. Make your reflection IOR a bit higher. Try 2.0.
  2. Hey Chris - Looks like you're not using any UV's on your geometry. Select the geometry that you want to be textured properly, select a UVW map modifier and put it to box mapping mode. From there you can tweak the size of the UV's in the settings below. If you're looking to displace this though, I would rebuild that geometry inside of max if you've got the time. Cheers. Jason
  3. When there is nothing pressing in our farm, I will give it a go and see how many we can get.
  4. I think that you should chime in on this Yahoo question...... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080812005329AA1zQs1
  5. You'd be even better off just using a vray sun and override the reflections with the HDR as a JPEG. It would render much cleaner/faster and I doubt you'd notice much difference in light quality once you do your color correction etc.
  6. A few obvious things with your scene. *This is a big problem because you've also got glossy reflections on just about every material in your scene. Use standard spots instead of IES when possible and just paint the IES patterns in if this is a still. If it's an animation, only use the IES lights against the walls and use standard lights instead of vray plane lights in the center of the space. * It looks like everything in your scene is reflecting........this is probably your biggest culprit next to the amount of VRay lights you have. Turn off reflections on the objects that are small and you don't necessarily see any dramatic reflection in the scene. For instance, if you've got tea pots and flower pedals that are reflecting the scene you can probably get away with turning reflections off on those all together and you'll notice your buckets don't get stuck in locations you wouldn't have expected.
  7. My image made it in and it's an actual project. I have never been a member of ASAI or any other organization though, simply because I don't see the benefit with all of the free networking options out there.
  8. If everything is welded, delete some verts on those curves. Splines won't extrude properly if verts are too close together some times.
  9. They're both great but you can almost always find the content that is inside of these magazines somewhere on forums, news items online, etc....it's all recycled content unless you really want the discs that they come with. I had 3D world for a while and didn't subscribe again because of this reason.
  10. I'll check with the guys and see if they're planning on uploading them soon, Brian.
  11. You can also just render out full float EXR's and it might get you further than you think. Give it a shot.
  12. CGtextures.com and the wood floor generator script are your best friend.
  13. Guys, as a fairly large part of the site for years now, I will go ahead and say that the site is most likely not coming back. Reasons don't need to be touched on right now, that's for Steve to come in if he wishes, but I am looking at an alternative and starting something new in the coming year or so, perhaps with Steve. Keep your eyes peeled. Thanks for the support and I am sure Steve appreciates it as well.
  14. I fully agree with the above posts and that is why I became such a large part of that community ..... the people. Everyone enjoyed each other and there was never any bickering. Only helpful posts and tons of useful archived information, reviews and tutorials. My 7000 posts are gone ..... at least for now ;-/ Feel free to email me if interested in updates and to keep in touch.
  15. Hey Russ, if you're reading this, your site is not down...Jeff is nuts. Vizdepot may or may not be back soon guys. Things are trying to be smoothed out on a few technical issues. Jason
