  1. Hello everybody I'm struggling with this matter for a few days and i can't find a way to do it, since i'm barely an intermediate modeler in 3D Max. I need to model this ceiling light attached but other than using lines with enabled rendering i just don't know how. The problem with splines is that i can't merge more than two points in a corner, so the final model have open edges, which completely kills the realism. Any suggestions on how can i model it to achieve a realistic look? Thanks in advance, all help is really welcome!
  2. Hello guys I'm currently working on this project but i just can't find ways to improve it. Would be really nice to have some insights from pros with way more expertise than me. Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks a lot Andres As soon as possible i'll try it out and show you how it went!
  4. Hi Does anyone know which are the best box modelling tutorials dor 3D Max? I need to model this snooker table, and i can go along for a while, but when i use turbosmooth i find out the modelling wasn't good enough, so the problem is in the basics. Any help will be very appreciated. Thanks in advance
  5. Yeah, i was looking at his work, amazing! I'll look into more tutorials to learn for sure! Well, i tried to make it using poly modeling and the result is shown below image Not my best work, but not the worst either, i'll keep improving as i learn new techniques. Thanks again!
  6. Hi Jose Basically is the same concept, yes, but the one i need to do is quite more difficult, because of the volume of each strand. Of course this job wouldn't be any obstacle for a more seasoned professional like the one in the video or many in these forums, but i'm still starting with poly/box modeling. Thanks for sharing this video, it's really educative!
  7. Hi Francisco Thanks for your time. Well, i need it, but i can hold a little, the question is if AMD will deliver you know. For the Threadripper, indeed they're nice as well, but the price is on another level, and not only for the CPU, but for MB as well. I guess i'll have to hold for a little while, since my budget is tight and there's no room for mistakes. Thanks again for the advice!
  8. Hello people I'm here in a huge dilemma and i hope someone can help me out. I'm about to make an upgrade in my PC (it's already 6 yrs old) because the rendering times are becoming hazardous for my projects timeline. I saw the new Ryzen 3900x as a nice catch for this new rig, since rendering benefits for it's high core count and good clock speeds, but now it's out of stock and without any prediction of when the supply will normalize. Then i look the other way and see the i9 9900k with a lower core count but faster clocks, with plenty of availability everywhere. I ask, will i regret investing in the i9 setup now, other than waiting a little longer for the 3900x?
  9. Yeah, that was my thought at first, but with a cylinder, instead of a spline. For this model alone would work, despite the time it would take, but i have other models with the amount of knitting far greater, then the time would become a real problem. Indeed it would be nice to hear other ways, hope the pros find the time to help here! Thanks Max!
  10. Thanks for the heads up, it's fixed!
  11. Hello people! I've got a new challenge ahead of me and since i'm not deeply into the modeling part of 3D Max, i'm a bit lost. I need to model this chair, and all the structure is ok, but i really can't figure out how to work the geometry for those knot-like objects. Imagem Any help on how to achieve this look? Thanks in advance.
  12. Thanks James, worked like a charm! Sometimes de simpler solutions is the best, never occurred to me doing this. Thanks a LOT!
  13. Hello people I'm currently having a situation i can't figure out alone. https://imgur.com/a/Po8KSmV In this image i have this plain curtain with a simple light grey vray 2 sided material and an opacity map of little squares, like it is perforated. In the final render i got these shadow splotches and i don't know how to fiz them. Already tried increasing irradiance map preset from medium to high, light cache from 1000 to 1500 and nothing changed. Any thoughts?
  14. Hi James! Thanks for the answer, i'll follow along with the Facebook Group hint, but i do not own RailClone, so, tthat one i'll have to pass. Now, hands on! Have a nice week!
  15. Hello people I'm on a quest, but i don't know even where to start. I have the models of a door and a window, and i want to make them like primitives, more like AEC components, but i don't know how to do it. Someone told me that using MCG for it, is the way to go, but i looked the web and found nothing more deep about this specific subject, can anyone lend a hand? Point me in the right direction? Thanks everyone!
