  1. Hi, I was going through certain online articles and i found out that 16Bit textures are much for better than 8Bit textures. How important is it to use 16bit(PNG or any other) as textures?. If there's any significant difference in the 3D Output. How can i make png textures? does it make any difference if am simply converting a JPEG to 16Bit PNG in photoshop? Or can i create a 16bit PNG from the RAW image directly? I hope its not a foolish question. Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi, I have a new client asking for 4K resolution 3D Walkthrough. I've tried searching for it online and couldn't find any. Is it possible to render this frame size for walkthrough ? Is there any technical difficulties other than rendering time?. Can anyone share one 4K resolution walkthrough if you have seen any? Thanks in advance.
  3. Thank you , for your reply .. Can you please give a link to some tutorial explaining the same ? I tried doing what you said but it doesnt look good even after applying normal maps .. Any other ideas ?
  4. Hi , Am working on a huge villa project. I usually do the distant scenery with forest pack which seems to take forever to render even after optimizing . If any of you know alternative ways to achieve the same result then let me know. Any help is deeply appreciated .. For reference
  5. Thank you both .. I didn't do much modelling. So i tried the scene with meter as the unit. Now everything works fine. Thanks again ..

I went through all the tutorials and missed this one .. :/ If it doesn't bother you may i ask , i had trees and some bushes scattered on the same plane as grass with another forest tool and suddenly its gone, is it a bug or something ? because when i go to modifier tab after selecting it all i can see is "mesh".
  11. Hi all, Am working on a project which has huge landscape and vegetation. Am trying to get my Grass area border right .. Am attaching an image for reference I've tried changing values like 'Density FallOff and Scale Falloff' But it has no effect on the grass .. Is there any other ways ? Can anyone atleast post a tutorial on it ? Am using Max2013, Forest Pack 4.0.2 [ settings image attached ] and Vray 2 Please help .. I have a deadline on this Thursday ..
  12. Thank you very much .. Yes exactly what i was looking for. This is the first time am using Xref for my scene after 3 years of doing 3dViz .. :/ Am using Quadro 2000 .. With the driver version 320.86 It doesn't have much impact on my rendering speed though .. I tried the same with Octane render which was like 40X faster ... i think its because Octane is a GPU renderer
  13. Thank you .. Stuart , things are much better now. But how can i hide/show Xref's ? there's no use in hiding the dummy and you cant select it either. Should i work with layers? isolation mode is very helpful sometimes ..
  14. Hi all , Am working on a big project [ considering my experience ] . And am having trouble with managing scene assets like buildings , vegetation etc. I have like 5 buildings each with 3 million polygons in it. To be merged into an another scene where i will be doing all the vegetation in forest pack. But its too much load for a single file. And viewport performance is very poor . Whats the best way to work in cases like this ? i've tried using 'Display As Box' but its not of much use. Please help ... am a kind of stuck now .. Am using 3DsMAX 2013 with Vray 2.4 ...
  15. Thank you scott , I tried the latest version of forest pack and octane only supports its 'by default' library items .. i usually do the vegetation by using archmodels along with forest pack .. Rendering vegetation is taking longer than i expected in Vray , but Octane works like charm Can you please share a tutorial or some link to render vegetation as seperate render pass .. if there's any ?
