  1. Thanks for the feedback. Dean you hit the nail on the head. What I am thinking about offering is a bespoke modelling service to suit dimensions provided. Not just a downloadable model that you'd have to butcher to get into your scene. The models would be highly detailed, and of course if I think there is a market I would have a website with samples and close-up renders etc. I can model these things pretty fast with a streamlined work-flow and have a large library of parts. Not been a lot of response. bugger! Geoff
  2. I specialise in modelling and rendering 'feature' stairs, glass, stainless steel etc for a staircase company. A friend suggested marketing the 3d models to architectural viz companies. I had never really thought of this before and has got me thinking if there is a market out there! They would have reasonably priced I guess, say £65 ($100) straight stairs and maybe £125 ($200) for spiral/helical. I could have about a dozen different design options to choose from, with different materials included. Would any of you guys buy a model of a ready made staircase designed to suit your needs? Or is the max stair tool enough? Thanks for any feedback Geoff (Moderator, if this is deemed to be advertising, then please delete. I do not think I am breaking the rules. I am seeing if there is a market before investing time into this project.)
  3. looks good for free will try it...if its for max that is....
  4. excellent looking renders. Will look at that style sometime. Geoff
  5. Does it render ok at a lower res? If so, try unchecking the 'show calc phase'
  6. Yes, Vray works with Viz. With vray 1.5 and VIz 2007 I have no compatability issues (at the moment!) Geoff
  7. Hello, How do you define 'Architectural designs' ? For example I design staircases, are these eligible to enter? (they are not just normal staircase either) Also, how many designs can I enter? Cool idea for a competition btw. Thanks Geoff

  9. Thanks for the info CHE. looking at the links right now. Looks very promising Geoff
  10. I looked on the modo website for the price, not looked for a UK reseller yet... Ian I'm not freelance yet...still a full time draughtman freelance is where I seem to be heading though mainly arch vis Just got seamless flow from 1 freelance job to another for the 1st time today! woo hoo
  11. £372 for modo + £71 for architecture scripts = £443 compared to £1500 for viz = cheap to me (at a third of the cost) didn't realise it was made by LW peeps Hopefully those scripts will help modeling architecture My other shortlisted alternatives are rhino (£611) and sketchup (£341) Thanks Ian for the info. can't wait to see what you can do in it! Geoff
  12. CHE I am going freelance in the near future and looking for a cost effective (read cheap) alternative to viz. I see that there are some architecture modelling scripts avaliable for modo too. Is modo a viable alternative to viz? I am hoping to modo with vray stand-alone which (hopefully) be released soon with 1.5. Thanks Geoff
  13. I have seen opening roofs on houses before. It looks a bit bigger than the one I have seen Can't see any reason why it shouldn't work though. Geoff
  14. interesting design. Can't wait to see more. Got a link to the other house by the same designer? Geoff
  15. Cool, I'll be using that. Thanks for the tip Geoff
