  1. Hello! Though this is my generalised opinion (and practice), almost three fourth of all serious crowd works on Max (with VRay or Corona) and sometimes Sketch Up, mainly due to the latter's better learning curve. The latest advancements in renderer technologies have contributed to almost identical image outputs so host applications' monopoly has somewhat shaken now. So actually its easier for you now to take whichever path suits you. Hope this helps.
  2. Dear Amghar, The best thing here is always keep experimenting. The experts here did not become so just by luck or fluke. You must put in hard work (efforts) to gain something worthwhile in this field. Simply asking questions would never give you what (trial & error kind of) real work will. So, my request is, do something in stead of just expecting spoon feeding. If you get stuck in the way, which you sure will, I am there for all your genuine queries, with many others who are experts, beyond my level of reach, and I know every single one will happily come forward. Hope this shows you some real way. Regards. Umesh Raut
  3. One more thing, if you have yet to get it right - check the linear workflow in render settings.
  4. Congratulations. And thanks for the gesture (and free models, of course).
  5. For realistic materials you may view (if not already viewed) materialism by BBB3. Also check out stuff by Grant Warwick, if you can.
  6. Karthik, Don't get me wrong but I would suggest you start trying at smaller areas, like a couple rooms or a house first. Without additional entities like moving people and vehicles. Once you reach a fair level of confidence you may step on to bigger things. Everyone has a learning curve and takes time to achieve certain level. This all is an advice since you mention 'new to walkthrough'. Also it would have been nicer if you had to put one or two of your recent renders to showcase what you can do now. Take it in the right spirit and you will come along.
  7. Hi Sherif, I clearly see them as you have modeled. Check a clay render (with material override) and you'll get to see them there too, if they are (as I feel) there in 3 D model. Also I don't know why you would keep the unwanted stuff like displacement and force 2 sided (you could have many more, if you look closely) on all the time, why make program go through more heavy lifting when it already is doing so much, whatever kind of hardware you may have. Only keep absolutely needed things 'on' and go on adding extra bits only after watching render times and necessity of those additions. Hope this takes you out of trouble.
  8. Respected Karl, Though all the other points you made above are good and true, I beg to differ on one that is not. I am an Indian 3D arch viz specialist having 18+ years of experience living in Mumbai, India and hence beg to differ and clear the air about that (smells like) superiority complex laden statement about outsourcing work/s to Indians. We Indians are the said to be most correct English speaking community and the most highly educated and technically skilled workforce recognised in the world. That's how and why there are many thousands of Indians in places of your high skilled work-lines. If someone has cheated you on the fees and duration of the project, you must bring it to everyone's notice, with substantiated fact sheet/s. But to say that all are guilty of communication lapses and time overruns is just like blaming all white skinned people to be racists. I have never compromised on the cost and time schedules just to grab some work. If someone chooses to go to a roadside cart to eat and then complains of low quality of food and hygiene then s/he needs to be firmly reminded of the choice made in favour of so called 'cost savings' neglecting other, certainly more important, issues like quality. I have only tried to clear some doubt regarding artists from India, don't know anything about China, though. Umesh Raut http://www.umeshraut.com
  9. Good and thanks nicnic, but the info is too short. I would certainly benefit ( and may be other newbies here, too) if you had to tell me what it is that comes to your mind to make it look like a 2012-2013 (I am not thinking of 2014, not as yet) website. By the way in my first post itself I have opened my ears & arms for suggestions and tips, if someone is kind enough to spare/share. Hope this is taken in right spirit. Regards, Umesh Raut
  10. Hi Sandeep, thanks for paying visit. I'll check in to the site for the hyperlinks which are not working, actually am building it again for SEO which I had not taken into consideration earlier while writing the original css
  11. and as Francisco has said, populating the scene with some real life elements, using skylight with HDR map and lowering the sun intensity would certainly produce good result. Don't know about Justin's tip because I haven't used MR (for arch viz) for years now; but sounds off since final gather could only accentuate the accumulated energy data, I suppose.
  12. Does that have any gamma correction or light adjustments? Because still that face looks burnt out and your scale seems a little off too, or may be the texture mapping has a different scale. Also, adding a bump or (very very low) displacement to the main face might just add some depth. Not sure whether and/or where it's in MR, but V-Ray has a good override material to take care of that very strong green cast on the white GI elements of that building on the right.
  13. That nVidia chip would come in handy in your renderings because Max is (and so are many other similar programs) optimized to use their cuda and physx instruction sets. An unfair advantage though, but yes, you get the extra bang for your (forcibly) spent buck.
  14. Dear Cesar, If I may, the camera and light angles need a bit adjustment, I feel. Its that halo created on your facade face that is eating out most of the effect by over brightening the whole image plane I suppose. Generally photographers try and keep Sun behind their right shoulder, well mostly, to get good light and contrast in the image. Composing the view right also would help make it have more depth. Play with different camera positions and lens settings to get a better composed photo as an option. And last but certainly not the least, what comes out of the rendering engine always needs some tweaking in image editing software to give it more realism.
  15. Dear rebay, You have got almost the top of the line thing there. I would, however, suggest you ask your IT people to check if your area has sales/service by Boxx, they have some well optimized hardware boxes for CAD and rendering workflows. And if our own Dimitris shares his thoughts here, they'll be of immense help to you too.
