  1. Go to Work Environment > Imaging and Calculation > and uncheck Write Report under 3D and Calculation Process Check Controls. See screen capture below:
  2. Don't know which version of AC you are using. But release 11 offers more options for modeling than older versions. MaxonForm is useful but is somewhat of a pain with changes to the model. I find it a bit confusing and a disconnect as far as the interface between the two programs. Probably due to the infrequency of use on my part. Cinema 4D is a great companion to ArchiCAD if you want to create high quality renderings. Check out the Cinema 4D forum here at CG Architect. Search for posted threads on this issue. You can also download a demo version of Cinema 4D from Maxon's Website.
  3. Jose', That was a very good unbiased description of the two software packages. It's refreshing to see an impartial discussion about the differences between software packages. Thanks! I hope others will have some more information to add. I personally have never used Revit, so I cannot add anything.
  4. What version are you using? AC-8, AC-9, AC-10?
  5. I think your rant is well placed. However, it would be best served posting where Graphisoft will read it. I doubt anyone from Graphisoft really monitors or participates here. (unfortunately I believe that to be the case). Glad to see some discussion starting on this topic. Anyone else have any thoughts disagreements etc.?
  6. Just in case you haven't seen the news on CGArchitect's front page... Or if you've been living in a vacuum. Archicad 10 has been announced. Looks like some good enhancements to the 3D interface and hopefully will not bog down our existing systems.
  7. It all depends on what you are using the software for. You need to evaluate the software based on your needs. For instance; If you are using BIM to it's fullest by modeling your building in 3D and expecting to use that information to produce not only the design drawings but the 2D construction documents then you should evaluate BIM Software like Revit and ArchiCAD etc. If you are looking only for modeling a building for just for presentation drawings and renderings / animations then evaluate SketchUp, Cinema 4D, 3DSMax, Lightscape, etc. You can't compare Sketchup and ArchiCAD. You're either not going to get enough or buying too much.
  8. Nothing out yet that I know of. You might check out Maxon's website to see tutorials of Cinema 4D as the interface is almost identical. There is also an extensive C4D Tutorial List in our very own CG Architect Cinema 4D Forum.
  9. You can use 3ds export from ArchiCAD. Open the 3D window Save As... select 3DStudio File from the drop down menu. The conversion is 3.28 to convert english to metric units (if that's necessary for you) as C4D uses metric for it's units.

    walls..

Use the canted wall to remove portions of a very thick slab through the use of Boolean operators in Solid Element Transformations. If you have segmenting problems increase your segment resolution in the Magic Wand Settings.

    walls..

    1. You can draw a roof then use the trim to roof tool, or use solid element transformations as a boolean operation to create a sloping wall. 2. Unfortunately Archicad will create 2 halves for circular walls regardless. However, with "clean wall intersections turned on the seam should not show up. 3. Once you have drawn your circular wall select the wall element(s) go to Extras > Accessories > Wall Accessories and select the canted wall object. This should give you the effect you are looking for. The object is parametric and highly editable. PS. I don't see the 2 pictures you mentioned in your post.
  12. If you're interested in environmental plugins you might check in to the Green Building Studio. There is a plugin that will do an energy analysis on your 3D model.
  13. There is no demo available for public use. I tried it in an ArchiCAD User Clinic. You can order the plugin from the Graphisoft website. Click on Where to buy and you can find your local reseller.
  14. I haven't received mine yet. I've heard that it is shipping and I messed with it in a demo. It integrates well with ArchiCAD.
  15. Never heard of Ramsteel. Sorry I can't provide any useful support. You may have to save the file from a 3D view in the original CAD program.
