  1. Hello I've been searching for quite a long time for a workflow in vray that produces handdrawn edges of renderings like in sketchup. But actually I didn´t find something until now. Most advices are for toon rendering. I didn´t achieve convincing results with this method. It would be best if it came with a renderpass with no extra rendering time. Maybe this could be on a wishlist for upcoming releases. How do you deal with this problem? Greetings, Harri
  2. Thank you for your comments. I think there is a big upcoming market for architectural vizualization. New presentation devices like the Samsung Gear VR or other will improve. I wonder when Vray will present some new technologies like Unreal Engine which makes renderings for walkthroughs with glasses possible.
  3. Hello! During the last days, I tested some mobil phone apps for AR. It´s funny to see a 3D model of a building hovering above my desk. Is there a way to produce a model on my own and view it with an app? I found some offers in the web, but quite expensive. Currently I´m using 3ds max and vray for rendering. Have a nice weekend.
  4. Well, I just found out that "UVW-Xform" modifier does the trick. Never used that before. Problem solved!
  5. At this time last year when I started the post, I also contacted the support of 3D connexion. They could not help. I am facing the problem only on my WIN8.1 computer. WIN7 works fine. Both computers have same 3DS Max 2014 and same 3dconnexion drivers. They have different graphic cards (nvidia). I suppose its the OS.
  6. Hello, I tired to model a wooden frame with "Bevel Profile" modifier. I ticked "Generate Mapping Coords" and got a nice result. But now I would like to tweak the scale of the wooden mapping. When I apply "UVW map" modifier, all oriented mapping is gone. How do you guys deal with that? Thanks, Alpenshive
  7. Hello! I once saw this project and wonder how to realize this in 3DS Max. I did some experiments with floorgenerator and Surfdeform modifier which only works for small geometry until it results in a crash. If you only go for texturing, how would you deal with the seams and the different widths of the boards in a circular geometry. Any ideas? Thanks, Alpenshiva
  8. Hi friends! I was really curious about the new features of Max 2016. A video tutorial explains the creation of a linear array of teapots between 2 points using the brandnew MCG tools. The same situation is reproduced with Railclone, using only 3!!! creation elements. Did I get something wrong or why is this new tool so complicated?
  9. Ok, after some tweaking I found a solution to my problem. I used "VrayLightSelect" render element and pushed the multiplier up to 1000. This produces a contrast between black and white eg shadow and sun. Please check out the attached image.
  10. Hello! I would like to lighten an architectural scene with the natural sun to check the cast of hard shadows to neighbour buildings. I am not interested in contact shadows of objects. I thought about vray render elements so that I can color the shadow afterwards in Photoshop. But somehow I do not really know which elements I should use. Do you guys know a workflow for my problem?   11. Hello friends! At the moment I´m doing some research of rendering outlines. I rediscovered the "graphic" style of 3dsmax quicksilver rendering. The outline of objects looks good, but I would like to get rid of those pen sketches that define surfaces. Is there a possibility to tweak this style apart from the Visual Style & Apperarance menu?   12. Hi there! I am using win8 64, 3DS Max Design 2014 SP5. When I have a couple of objects in the scene, after zooming or using 3dconnexion mouse, I cannot select an object. Wheter when picking or crossing. I then have to select all objects, deselect them and choose the one I actually want to pick. When changing the view, most of the time the same things happen. I tried changing the display drivers, but nothing really helps. Graphics driver and 3D connexion driver are up to date. This is annoying. Has someone been facing same problems? Tank you, Alpenshiva

  14. Hi, I have been searching on this topic but did not find satisfying answers. When rendering an animation of a couple of frames with render elements turned on, they will not be saved to the outputfolder when I use the Vray frame buffer. Is there a possibility to save them automatically like in 3ds Max frame buffer? Thanks, Alpenshiva
