  1. Hi, Were you rendering in the sRGB colorspace? bcos when you start 3dsmax by default the sRGB setting is disabled in Vray frame buffer. If not then check if you had some other VrayFrameBuffer color correction/exposure settings enabled before, there might be a chance that they got reset.
  2. I have worked for more than 6 years now and have worked for multiple different projects under various fields for 3D for example, Product visualization, Character Animation, Movies, TV Commercials, Car Commercials, Architectural Visualizations. I would say out of them all the most saturated is the Movies and Architectural Visualization fields... There are just too many people doing the same thing, so there is very few clients out there that require quality work done. But if you love what you do then this doesn't bother you, bcos do what you love and keep on it. There are only a few people who really enjoy the work they do and have taken the time and effort to make it to the top. Once you struggle your way out of the conventional pool of monotonous work, you will see there is an amazing amount of potential out there. I have been working for a Architectural Contracting company abroad for 2 years, I wouldn't say experience doesn't really get you into these companies, work counts like if you have done visualization for a project that they are currently working on then it is more likely that you will get hired and also obviously luck based. For example a huge company like I worked for usually sends a manager and an HR personnel to take interviews to a dedicated Recruiting Agencies. So if you happen to be at the recruiting agency when the interviews are taking place and you have work that is related to the projects they are looking for they will hire you.
  3. I am trying to look for the option in my Vray, but I can't seem to find it to test it. I am using Vray 3.0 in 3dsmax Design 2014.
  4. 01. Either the camera is moved and now is inside a wall or behind a Vray Light which is not set to invisible. 02. Camera Settings -> Shutterspeed - Indoors should be set to 15-28 - Outdoors should be set to 128-200 keeping the f-number at 8.
  5. When you export from 3dsmax to sketchup, remember to set the units in 3dsmax to either meters or inches, unitless causes scale issues. The only way I know which works for this is through exporting 3ds file, but when imported into sketchup causes triangulation of the mesh.
  6. If all your materials have the UVW mapping problem then just select all of the objects that need the change and run a script like this. ( sel = getCurrentSelection() for s in sel do ( if not classof s.material == MultiMaterial then ( mat = s.material if classof mat.texmap_diffuse == BitmapTexture then ( if mat.texmap_diffuse.coords.realWorldScale == true then ( mat.texmap_diffuse.coords.U_Tiling = mat.texmap_diffuse.coords.U_Tiling / 25.4 -- As 1 inch is 25.4 mm mat.texmap_diffuse.coords.V_Tiling = mat.texmap_diffuse.coords.V_Tiling / 25.4 -- As 1 inch is 25.4 mm ) ) )else if classof s.material == MultiMaterial then ( submat = s.material for m=1 to submat.materialList.count do ( mat = submat.materialList[m] if classof mat.texmap_diffuse == BitmapTexture then ( if mat.texmap_diffuse.coords.realWorldScale == true then ( mat.texmap_diffuse.coords.U_Tiling = mat.texmap_diffuse.coords.U_Tiling / 25.4 -- As 1 inch is 25.4 mm mat.texmap_diffuse.coords.V_Tiling = mat.texmap_diffuse.coords.V_Tiling / 25.4 -- As 1 inch is 25.4 mm ) ) ) ) ) ) I am a bit unsure if you need to divide 25.4 to the existing Tiling or multiply (if it is multiply just change "/" to "*"
  7. Hi, In this case I would recreate the object using the hemisphere as reference and with that you can also fix the single vextex problem that you get with that. Then you would get total control over where you want edges. The other option that you can try is using NURBS, but personally I haven't worked more with that so can't really say how you can get the best result you are looking for. When it comes to Surfaces I usually revert to Rhino modelling as it gives way more control.
  8. I have never had this happen. Whenever I render the CPU usage shoots to 100% everytime. I think it might have to do with the setting "Low Priority" checked on in your Render settings. I usually keep that off as I don't work simultaneously to the render.
  9. If you see it overall it is really good work. I like it. But I have some tips for you to improve on subtle things but they do catch your eye when you are looking in detail at the image. 1. Texture Stretching (UV Problem) for the couch bottom left. 2. Furry Carpet shading problem or something about it looks off like it just doesn't work for me. 3. Wires and Strings just don't come right out of the ceiling they have a fixture. 4. Glass partition - Shelves also have fixtures to hold the glass where it is, they are not fused with the vertical glass. 5. Light bulbs look like water droplets - Use shell Modifier to give it thickness - Put a sphereical light or a bulb model inside it to have like a solid light feel not just a glow in Photoshop. 6. The lamb leg and the objects on the glass shelf have ambient lighting. Try to keep everything lit from natural or light sources. Those were technical comments now for design suggestions, 1. Fridge/Cabinet in the back try brushed metal feel to the handle would make it look way more better. 2. As a personal opinion I would prefer if there would be counter-space towards the back. Keeping all the stove, oven, dishwasher and other items related there. Instead of a dead cabinet space. 3. I like the overall industrial contemporary look to the space. I like the use of black and white more often used in the room as it really brings out a theme. But I really don't like the way the sudden Wooden counter top on a mostly black and white theme. 4. I like the way you have broken the monotonous feel by adding the yellow slot in bookcase which is really nice touch but I think instead of a light yellow, it would like nicer if it was lemon yellow. 5. Do you want the bookcase to be a modular furniture piece like should it be able to be pulled out, if so then you need to give some slots to the boxes for ease of use. 6. The area behind the glass partition is a total waste of space at the moment. A simple suggestion try to think on every piece of items that you have placed in your scene as to when required or in a day to day use would this item be there in that spot. You will realize that do you really need a Lamb leg hanging in the middle of the dinning area? I would personally store it in a deepfreeze storage.
  10. Well no seriously I have never used this pass I always saw it in the Render Passes but never actually used it. I am sorry if my answer was unrelated, are you wondering why there is difference in the calculation by the DR bucket and the WS bucket?
  11. Can you post the inspiration work as well of the other CG artist too so that we can know where its at or what you are going for. My suggestion overall would be to get real-life references, think on this what did your inspiration CG artist look at when he created his master piece. I would ask the following questions to make it better. 1. How old/abandoned the area is? 2. What is the reason behind the rusting of the metal/panel? 3. Was there a struggle like what was the reason that it got shut down. Was it a conflict? or did they just leave it like one day. 4. Where is the Panel located is it in the Jungle or is it in a quarry or like is it in a mine? To make a convincing CG work it should have a story behind it, The more you think about it there are more details that you can add accordingly thus leaving a mark on the final render.
  12. I would like to know why/how would anyone use this pass like what good does it make knowing that the red areas are going to take more time to render... I would say the pass should be only run on the WS as for me it is just a testing thing like how much time would it take to render a specific area. I wouldn't use it for distributed rendering... But if anyone is using it for Post then I would like to know that...
  13. For a workplace game you could go in for something along the lines where it helps teamwork like counter-strike or Age of empires or Call of Duty 4. Helps everybody to work with each other. If you want something for group fun to make people relax.(Very addicting should not be like everyday game, Affects productivity) Quake 3 Arena with Voosh Mod. This game is an overall mood improve if you find out that people are losing interest or you have some down time this is the best game to bring up the moral of the team. If you want an overall relaxing game like not much of fighting, you could go with Minecraft, being in Architectural visualization stuff, things might get super interesting... If it is not for the team but only you going to play, may be GTA or ElderScrollsOnline are good games to play on the PC with the controllers.
  14. Well if you move the sun a little up you will see the other window casting light on the floor. In the first image you have the right window throwing light on the pillow while the left window barely misses the light on the floor. To check see the floor tiles the light throws light inches out of the scene... Besides I think you might know this but anyways the bed-sheet is floating... You might want to adjust that before final render.
