  1. I print elevations in scale all the time, I made an spread sheet with the formula but I'm not in my office right now...using the info from the camera( distan from the camera to the target and the angle you can find how many linear meters represent the width of your rendering ... with that info without changing the final resolution you have to change the Dpi to get it in scale.

  3. Randomizer I think is the name of the script, you will able to move them or scale them up http://www.scriptspot.com
  4. I did some tests in the past, I got almost the same rendertimes turning off layers or xrefs.
  5. I think using layers is the way to go.
  6. because you are a student, I would go Sketchup and AutoCad... so you can desing very fast, having renderings, shadow studies and you have to worry about how modeling stuff like Autocad. so you export your desing from Sketchup to Autocad (floorplans, sections, elevations, etc) but I also think that you should know Revit so if you have more time, you could have all the presentation .... Revit is not that good in the design creative proccess like Skechup.
  7. The look of the renderings is one part of his question, for the second one I would use SU, It's super fast for modeling and pretty easy to learn, you could export to max or using those rendering engines inside SU. Fernando
  8. Good tutorial!! .I prefer AO in post to have more control of the amount of it. vrayextratex under vray elements and dropping vraydiry in there. Fernando
  9. I have an Alienware 17 with overclocked I7 proccessor and 2 videocards It's a portable workstation, I travel a lot too... I remotely send stuff to my farm but in case I can not connect to the Farm, my laptop can handle anything (plan b). Fernando
  10. you are welcome!! if you go logmein pro, you only need one license, I would use the manager for that. if go logmein free, it's a little more steps because you need to remotely control one computer at home and upload the renderings to a FTP or something similar, after that you have download them from there....I have logmein in my Iphone, so I can see what is going on when I'm out of my office another good tool to control the farm is RefaMo, you can control them, see the status of memory, proccessors, disk, etc.... you can turn them off, and run batches, so if you need to turn off or on DR in vray, it can be done in one click all the computer at once.
  11. It has to be a loading problem for sure, sometimes when multiples computers try to read/load the same info from of course the same drive you got the problem... some while ago I got the same problem and I mirrored my assets drive to all my computers, so they look the info locally. Proxies need to be loaded every single time you render them. have you tried to render only those frames again to see if the problem appears only there?
  12. that problem usually happen when you have multiples render nodes and some of the notes don't load the proxies... my understanding is you rendered in one computer... did you rise the memory under Vray dialogue box, If you 18gb I would move it up around 12GB. Fernando
  13. in max there is an icon to do that, It's under materials, "update materials from library" both name materials have to have the same name. I use it all the time when I import stuff from SketchUp Fernando
  14. Render it out smaller and download Blowup plugin for Photoshop( trial version is the full valid for 30 days I think) the quality is very good. Check it out http://www.alienskin.com/blowup/index.aspx Fernando
  15. setting up remotely is very simple, what you need is: -Hamachi free to set up a virtual network, so every computer will have a new IP under this virtual network -LogmeIn Free or Pro....I would go Pro to control and transfer data between computer In vray under licenses you have to use the new IP from Hamachi Transfer the files from work to home (using the same drive name) Mimic what you have at work to evoid delays transfering the files via backburnerin my main MAX file I only have cameras and lights and xrefs so the file is very small. when you send the rendering via backburner make sure that you are using the IP from Hamachi (the manager is one of your computers at home). when the renderings are done, you could get access to the nodes at home via logmein and/or transfer the renderings to your computer at work.(It looks complicated but it is not) Fernando
